Chapter 18
Black. That's all I see. I blink a few times, trying to take in my surroundings. My wrists hurt with every movement.
"Hello?" I call out to the darkness beyond. Of course, there's no answer. I try to squirm around in the chair, but it appears that I'm stuck. I take a glance down at my wrists to see them binded to the chair, as well as my ankles. My feet are resting on the ground as I close my eyes for a second, hearing the door (that I never noticed) open, I finally look up.
"It's about time you woke up." Cam states, walking up to me. He turns on a lamp and points it directly in my face. My teeth grind at the sight of him.
"What do you want?" I spit at him. He chuckles and slowly makes his way toward me.
"Well," He starts. "You obviously know why you're here. However, my being is classified information." I raise an eyebrow.
"Classified? You might as well tell me; you're probably going to kill me anyways." He shrugs at my accusation.
"Maybe. Depends on your cooperation." I send him my best death glare. Of course he wants something from me. It's the exact same every time we talk; either he needs something from me or he wants to do something to me.
"Oh so now you send Adam to do your dirty work." I tease. He walks behind my chair. I try to turn my head around to face him, but he is out of range.
"Well, considering he was close to your brother and had an extra key to your house, vehicles, and garage, yeah, I did." His face comes into view right beside my left ear. "As well as your precious Kim Avon." My whole body goes rigged at the mention of her name. My hands tighten into fists.
"What about her." I grind out. He smirks at my anger.
"Well, for such a smart girl, you are so oblivious." I never remove my gaze. He pulls a chair from the corner of the room (something else that I seemed to miss). "Your little friend, she's been the one sending the threats. Have you not seen the hints given to you?" I shake my head, thinking back to when Kim was walking up to my house.

"There you are! I called you like a million times! Why wouldn't you answer?!" She screamed. I chuckled, since when did she become my mom? "God, I was so worried about you! Don't do that to me again!" She said embracing me. I smiled as I returned the hug. As I did this a thought occurred, I never got any calls during the meeting.

How could I have been so blind not to notice that little detail? More so check it out.
"Kim wouldn't do that to me." I state, matter of factly. He raises a questioning eyebrow.
"Oh, wouldn't she?" I look down at the ground in thought. Would she? My eyebrows come together the longer I think about the question. I decide to think about it later; now I need answers.
"Why me?" I ask, my voice barely a whisper. He shakes his head at my change in subject, but doesn't comment.
"Why not? You are a leader of the most dangerous gang in the province, and one of the fastest people I know. So why not go after you, while you are focused on the distraction." I look up at him. He gives me his signature smirk. I wish I could wipe that smirk off his face! He burst into laughter. I shut my mouth tightly.
"I said that out loud didn't I?" I ask, hoping it wasn't true. He sobered up enough to nod before taking a glance at me and turning into another fit of laughter. After he was done, I looked at him with the look of boredom.
"Anyways," He states. "I have brought you here for a reason of course. Do you know that reason?" He interrogates. I roll my eyes at the question.
"No, I asked why for no reason." I snap. He shakes his head slightly.
"Right now isn't the time for you to be smart, Hero. After all, you are the one in the chair." I shrink into the seat more, loosening the ropes. A plan starts to form in my head.
"Where's my brother?" I demand. He chuckles.
"You never really cared about your life, did you?" He questions. I shrug. "Well, sorry to say Hero, but you're going to spend the day answering my questions." I groan at the sight of the tools sitting on the metal platform placed beside him. It's going to be a long day.
