Chapter 20
"Anne, which room is she in?" I hear Victor say, frustratedly.
"Her signal isn't in the room anymore, it seems to be coming from in the hall here." By the time she finishes her sentence, they have walked right by me. I put the knife back and step out from behind the pillar. I run right into another person. I hear a deep grunt as we both go toppling to the ground. I shake my head and look up, feeling a gun on my forehead.
"Hero?" Tyler says, unbelievingly. I roll my eyes.
"No, I'm Chris Pratt." I retort sarcastically. A signature smirk grows onto his face. He slips his gun back into his holster.
"Still as sarcastic as ever." He mumbles, helping me up. I straighten in front of him. He quickly embraces me.
"God, you worried me sick." He says into my head. I smile against his chest. We separate, hearing a voice clearing. I look over at the worried faces of the gang. I walk over to a tear streaked Anne. I give her a innocent face. She smiles warmly, breaking down and embracing tightly.
"You had us all worried sick!" She exclaims. "What happened?" She questions. I sigh.
"That's a whole different story for a different time." I state, leaving the embrace. I side step to Victor; who's smiling like a goof. I smile back; I may or may not like him.
"Did I worry you too, Vic?" I ask, looking up into his eyes. His smile grew.
"Yeah, but I'm happy to have you back." He states. I feel my smile get bigger. He clears his throat, shaking his, making his smile evaporate. "What do we do now boss?" He asks, all emotion gone, only void remaining. My smile falters but, I manage to hold it on my face, turning away from him.
"Now we go find Ryder and his boyfriend." Everyone nods and falls into line; Tyler next to me in the front, Anne and Victor following.
"You're an idiot; you should've hugged her or at least showed her more than a smile." I hear Anne mumble as we start to the basement.
"Why? She's a leader, she has responsibilities. I don't want to be anymore of a burden than I already am." Victor replies, his voice laced with sadness. My face contorts into a face void of emotion. He's right; I don't need this right now. Now I need to get back my brother.
