The sun shone gently on Jim and me while we walked through the park. We walked in silence, but it wasn't bothering me at all. Jim had his eyes closed and let me lead him a bit in the right way so he wouldn't stray off the path. I actually really loved it when Jim did like this. He walked next to me with his hand in mine while the sun shone on him and he was enjoying the warmth she gave. I particularly liked that he had his eyes closed since I could stare at him without him noticing it. Don't blame me, he's just too perfect! I smiled without being aware of it. 'You really find me that beautiful to stare this long?' Jim said with his eyes still closed and a grin on his face. 'M-me? I'm not staring at you Jim. You wish.' I answered though I knew he didn't believe me. 'Do you even believe it yourself?' He teased and opened his eyes. 'Oh, shut up Jim. I just like your new hairstyle.' I tried and ran my hand through his raven-hair. 'Okay, okay. Just one thing.' He said. 'And what is that?' I asked, happily that I had convinced Jim that I wasn't staring at him. 'I haven't got a new hairstyle.' He said and grinned.
We walked passed a field filled with pigeons and I squeezed in Jim's hand. 'Not this time, Jim. Let them be.' I said but he didn't hear me. He freed himself out of my grasp without any effort at all and ran to the pigeons who quickly flew away in fear. They all made that pigeon-sound when they took off and Jim laughed out loud when they fled away. 'Jim,' I said, 'come back.' He did and when he was back, still laughing, he apologized. 'I had to!' he said as an excuse. 'So you accepted you can't make humans afraid again and now you're focusing on scaring pigeons.' I said sassily with a smile on my face. 'Who says I can't scare people anymore? People run away when they see me!' He answered as we walked on. 'Are you sure that's because of you being scary?' I said and received a soft slap because of that.
'You can't scare me anymore, that's for sure.' I said and the pride I felt was hearable in my voice. 'Yes I can! And pretty easily by the way. You're scared of everything. Bees, little insects, giraffes, pineapples, literately everything.' He said. 'No I'm not!' I protested. 'Yes you are and you know you are.' Jim chucked sweetly. 'Jim...' I said and stopped walking. '...listen to me; I am not afraid. I'm fearless.' I said bravely. 'Fearless?' Jim asked. 'Yep, fearless- get that thing away from me!' I screamed when a bee buzzed next to me. It came way to close and I ran away. The horrid thing followed me and I ran and ran faster than ever before. 'Jim! Get it away from me! Help!' I screamed in utter fear. 'Help!' But instead of helping me like he totally was supposed to do, he just stood there, watching me and laughing so loud that the pigeons didn't dare to come back yet. 'Help me you fool!' I commanded and looked at the yellow-black monster that neared me. 'Please!' I shouted. Jim ran over to me and, as if it was that easy, he blew at the bee and it went away.
He then looked at me with a smile on his face but stayed silent, so did I. I looked away but still felt Jim smiling at me. Eventually he said: '"Fearless", that's the word you used to describe yourself, right?' He received a punch for that. 'Yes, you can't make me afraid. This was the bee scaring me, not you.' I said and walked on. 'And since you can't just transform into the Rake I will never be afraid of you.' I said. 'And how are you so sure I can't turn into the Rake, my dear?' He said with a mysterious grin on his face. 'Really, Jim.' I said and walked on. 'I have seen that grinning face far too many times today. If I see it again, I will slap it.' But still, even though I was absolutely sure Jim couldn't change into a naked monster with creepy eyes, I still felt uneasy when I saw familiar lights dancing in Jim's eyes. The mischievously lights that said: challenge accepted.

'Jim?' I asked. No answer. I tried again but the silence was the only response I received. My hands searched for the light-swich but when I turned it, the light didn't go on. I tried once more but again my attempt was in vain. 'Jim? If this is your idea of a joke, then stop it now. You know I'm not comfortable in the darkness. Please, turn on the light for me.' I said and felt disgusted by my own weak voice. The darkness stayed all around me, causing me to search for the little candles we always had on the table with shaking hands. But the darkness was all I saw and instead of the comforting feeling of the candles, I felt something else. 'Jim?' I asked again and touched the 'thing' that was on the place where the candles normally stood. 'Jim, stop. This is not funny.' I said with a trembling voice and tried to make up whatever I was touching right now. Maybe it was the candle after all. No, that's not possible. We had just used the candles before the light had disappeared out of the room so they're supposed to be a little hot at the edge. And this wasn't. This thing was cold, like ice. I wrapped my fingers around it and suddenly...
