Mycroft isn't really a person who enjoys Valentine's day, and that I knew well. So I was pleasantly surprised to see the table fully decked when I walked down the stairs in the morning. On the table I found little baskets with croissants and tiny buns, little sweet things and all sorts of pastries, but most importantly I found a note, almost completely hidden behind the basket with croissants, as if the note was too scared to be read. I took it in my hands and opened it. It read:
"Good morning, dearest. Here's just some little thing to let you start your day properly and to wish you a wonderful Valentine's day. I'm not good at this sort of things, so don't confront me later on, I know how much you like to do so.
Fondest greetings from your loving Mycroft."
I smiled because of the sweet note and already knew that I was definitely going to confront him when he got home. I ate my royal breakfast and decided to cook something nice for dinner as a present back. I was sure Mycroft would get home on time to dine with me so I spend all day in the supermarket and the kitchen until I knew I had made something tasty enough.
Meanwhile, of course, I practised the lines I would say during my confrontation with Mycroft.
And so the time passed and Mycroft got home. He wanted to walk up the stairs right away, to avoid meeting me, but I was waiting in the hall to meet him.
'Good evening, Mycroft...' I said happily and hugged him tightly. '...and a happy Valentine's day to you!' I added. He smiled as I released him out of my embrace. 'You too, my love.' He said and wanted to escape, but I grabbed his wrist.
'Not so fast.' I said. 'Let's have diner together. I've spent all day working in the kitchen.' Mycroft looked a bit disappointed. 'You were supposed to have a wonderful relaxing day.' He said as I led him into the kitchen.
'Ah, don't worry, my dear Myc. My day was wonderful for it started with the most wonderful note. Thank you for that.'
I saw Mycroft blushing as I watched him out of the corner of my eye. We took place around the table and started to eat. I stayed silent, waiting for Mycroft to speak.
'Just saying, but about that note; I haven't written you anything.' He said.
'Of course you haven't.' I said and shrugged my shoulders. 'Though it was strange that I read your name at the end of the message...'
'Sherlock must have written it to frame me, or something.'
'In your handwriting?' I asked and smiled. Then I rose and walked over to Mycroft. I wrapped my arms over his shoulders from behind and kissed him on his cheek. 'Give Sherlock a kiss like that one for me, okay? Tell him that I hope he had a wonderful Valentine's day.'
'What kind of kiss?' asked Mycroft. 'My apologies, but I wasn't paying attention.'
