In the past 2 hours since hanging up with Lizzie I haven’t really done much. I’ve mostly sat on my bed my mind racing about all the possibilities. Where are we moving too? Who is this new guy? What will he be like? Does he have kids? I’m so lost in everything that’s going on I would much rather curl up in a ball and ignore everything that happening.

“Emma?” my mom asked appearing in my doorway.

“Yea?” I asked looking up from my place sitting in front of my window looking out at the woods behind our house.

“Dinner’s ready if you want to come down,” she smiled faintly.

“I’ll be down in a minute,” I said still looking out my window but watching her reflection in the glass.

“Alright,” she said sighing before walking back down the hall way.

I don’t mean to be a bitch to her, but I can’t help but to think that she has hid all this from me for the past who knows how long. And it’s not like I would have even been mad or anything about her finding someone else. My dad was a bastard for leaving her the way he did, without any notice or warning. He just up and left her with a house and a daughter that she had to take care of, that’s a douche bag move if you ask me.

I slowly got up and walked towards my door trying not to step on anything that was thrown about. As I walked I couldn’t help but notice all the pictures of us as a family we were all smiling and happy. Am I naive to think that the happy times were real? Or was he faking it all and I was just too stupid to see it?

“Ah there you are,” mom smiled at me and I gave her a half hearted smile back.

“What are we having?” I asked walking over to the stove to help her.

“Spaghetti,” she made me smile it was always the one food that would put a smile on my face, but do you blame me?

“So,” I said playing around with the food on my plate.

“So,” she said as well before taking a small bite.

“Tell me about this new guy?” I asked putting my fork down.

“Do you really want to know?” she asked cautiously and I nodded my head. “Okay, well his name is Mark, he’s a great guy,” she smiled and I have to admit I’m happy she’s happy again, I didn’t know if I would see her cheerful again.

“Is that all I get?” I chuckled.

“Well what else do you want to know?” she asked smiling.

“One helpful thing would be where does he live and where are we moving to?” I asked leaning forwards the slightest bit.

“He lives in England, and we will be moving to his home in London,” she looked up at me searching my face for a reaction.

“London?” I breathed out, it’s always been my dream to visit there and now I’m going to be living there?

“Is that a good or bad face I can’t tell?” she asked still focused on my face.

“It’s a shocked face,” I laughed. “How did you even meet him?”

“On the interweb,” she said smiling making me put my head in my hands.

“The interweb,” I quoted her laughing.

“What?” she asked and I just help up my hands and shook my head.
