"Hello ladies. My name is Caleb and I will be your personal chauffer today," Caleb says, giving us a creepy face as we climb in the back. As I buckle my seatbelt, he turns to wink at me behind the driver's seat.
"Okay then Mr. Chauffer, take us to the mall," Jen challenges, raising one eyebrow. I love how playful they are together. Its so funny to watch them bicker back and forth like they have been siblings their whole life.
"Uh, no. I only drive to logical places, like the skate shop and Bath and Body Works," He answers non-chalantly.
"Bath and Body Works? What the heck?" I ask, chuckling to myself.
"Well you know, all men have to have that one flowery scent." He says as he takes a deep breath as to inhale a flower's scent. He is so wacky. Sometimes I am really thankful he is my brother.
"So, how did you get stuck with car duty? Not that I am complaining, Max is a great driver, but he can be a little strict sometimes," I say, pursing my lips into a straight line.
"I forgot I had an essay due yesterday, when mom finds out she will be really mad, so I am getting on her good side," he shrugs and turns on the car. The car makes hardly any noise when the ignition starts, and after a minute, all you hear is the purr of the engine.
He pulls out of the parking lot after showing the security guards his pass. The gate slowly began to open, and he slowly pulled through. Even though Caleb may be a newish driver, and teen actor, he is very road safe. He passed his driving test with flying colors and is very cautious on the road. I also passed my driving test, just not as well as he did.
You could call him a 'one-upper' because he is always doing things one step better than everyone else. You got a good grade on a test, Caleb did better. You got a 22 on your ACT at the age of 15, Caleb gets a 24. He is truly a good kid. Sometimes I cant help but wonder where we all would be if Caleb had not gotten that role in his first movie.
Caleb started acting when we were twelve. He first got a role in a small commercial because he begged my mom to let him do at least one. When she finally said yes, he started practicing every day for his role in a local pet store commercial. Once he got the part, we were so proud of him. His career took off from there. He got a few major movie rolls at 14, and just recently got a modeling job. Sometimes, I get jealous over how popular he is, but then I stop and remember how nice it is to not be famous. He was awarded 'Best Young Actor' last year and the next awards show is coming up this month and he is nominated for: Best Young Actor, Best Character, Best Shirtless Performance, and Best Kiss. That best kiss one was with his co-star Brooke Lancing. The one the guy in the interview asked me about.
Jen randomly starts bursting out laughing and I turn to look at her. She stops laughing and leans over to whisper something in my ear. As soon as the words leave her mouth, we are both cracking up hysterically.
"What did she say? Guys don't leave me out on this!" Caleb says, stopping at a red light and looking back at us.
"You really want to know?" I ask playfully.
"Yes, so tell me now! I want to know!" He whines, accelerating as the light turns green.
"Okay, what Jen told me was-" It really wasn't important, but he didn't know that. Because in an instant, our lives changed. As the light turned green, I heard Jen produce a blood curdling scream as a pickup truck came at us, running the red light. Caleb swerved to avoid it, but it did no good. Glass shattered, and the last thing I remember is wiping blood from my eyes.
