3rd Person Nico PoV
September 1
Nico stared blankly at a brick wall. It was the entrance to Platform 9 3/4 and even though he had gone through it before, he still had doubts. He ran towards the wall with a sneaking suspicion that it would be solid and he would break his neck. Of course, it worked and he found himself on standing in a mob of witches and wizards.
He sighed as he looked around at all the happy faces of the first years, about to board the train for the first time. Their parents were smiling even though they had tears in their eyes.
His father and stepmother didn't care enough to see him off. Hades and Persephone were more interested in their own lives than their son's.
His sister, Bianca, and his half-sister, Hazel, were already running towards their friends.
Nico boarded the train. Might as well get a seat before they're all taken. He walked to the very back of the train where he hoped no one would join him.
The train was filling up and about to depart. Nico thought he was finally lucky enough to have a compartment to himself.
Right as the train started to move and he assumed everyone already had a seat, the compartment door slid open. The boy standing in the hallway outside the compartment was tall and tan, with sandy blond hair and blue eyes, and he was wearing a red cross sweatshirt and blue jeans.
"All the compartments are full. Can I sit with you?" He asked politely.
Nico nodded, crossly.
"I'm Will Solace." Will sat down across from Nico.
"I'm Nico. Nico di Angelo." Nico mumbled. Nico looked down at his skull ring and started twisting it.
"Nice to meet you, Nico. I don't think I've seen you in school before. What year are you in?" Will asked.
Nico sighed. He obviously wasn't going to get the quiet train ride he had been hoping for with this chatterbox sitting with him.
"Fourth year."
"That explains it. I'm a Hufflepuff fifth year. What house are you in?" Will asked.
Like he couldn't tell what house Nico was in just by his clothes. He was wearing a plain black t-shirt with black pants and an aviator jacket. His shoes were black converse and he wore a skull ring. He was obviously not a Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. He might have been able to pass as a Gryffindor but Gryffindor tended to wear brighter clothing, specifically plaid. Nico was quite plainly, a Slytherin.
"Slytherin."
Will looked out the window anxiously. Nico was pretty sure Will had figured out Nico didn't want to talk. Nico pulled out a random book and hoped he would leave him alone.
"What book are you reading?" Will asked. He seemed less anxious now that he had found a new topic.
"Quidditch Through The Ages." Nico glanced at the cover and wondered why he even had that book in his bag. Nico hated Quidditch.
"I love Quidditch! My father took me to see the World Cup this year!" Will continued to babble on about the World Cup. Nico would occasionally nod or smile and Will assumed Nico was actually listening. Nico instead, started imagining a peaceful surrounding, like a woods or something where he could not have to communicate with other living beings.
Maybe an abandoned house. That would be nice... Nico thought.
His tactic worked for about five minutes until Will ran out of things to say about Quidditch. Nico stared out the window again. He was bored and wanted this annoying idiot to shut up so Nico could enjoy some peace and quiet.
"You don't actually like Quidditch, do you?" Will asked when he realized Nico wasn't listening.
"No," Nico confessed.
"Then what're you doing with Quidditch Through The Ages?"
"I have absolutely no idea. It looks like I somehow stole it from the library. But I would never check this book out. It's crap." Nico threw it over to Will. "Hey, since you like Quidditch so much, shut up and read this so I can sleep."
