3rd person Hazel POV
Hazel practically ran to the courtyard. It was right after Defense Against the Dark Arts and she knew Nico would be in the courtyard. She trotted up to him.
"Nico!" Hazel tapped him on the shoulder. Nico smiled at her.
"Hey, Hazel." Nico closed his book. Hazel was bouncing on the balls of her feet.
"What're you so excited about?" Nico asked Hazel.
"Frank asked me out!" Hazel watched Nico's smiled fall into a frown.
"He WHAT?!" Nico's eyes widened.
"He asked me out." Hazel looked at Nico disappointedly. "I thought you would be excited for me."
"I-I am but-" Nico's sentence was cut off when Frank walked over to Hazel. Nico's frown turned into a scowl.
"Hi, Hazel!" Frank said cheerfully.
"Hey, Frank." Hazel smiled.
"Hello," Nico said coldly.
"Hello," Frank responded, nervously.
"What's going on with you two?" Hazel asked.
"Why the hell did you ask her out?" Nico asked Frank. Hazel looked at them both extremely confused. What is going on?
Frank stayed silent.
"I told you she was too young and naive." Nico glared at Frank.
"Hey!" Hazel interjected.
"I-" Frank began.
"She's THIRTEEN Frank! She's still a child! I'm supposed to protect her from harm and she's walking right towards it!" Nico raised his voice.
"I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself, thank you!" Hazel yelled at Nico.
"You may think that, but you haven't even been into the real world. It's harsh, Hazel. And a relationship is even harsher." Nico responded.
"You think I don't know how harsh the world is? My mother died because of me! I found my sister's dead body! Frank has been one of the only lights in the dark real world!"
"I would never hurt-" Frank tried to add but Hazel cut him off.
"You think I don't know that?" Hazel pursed her lips.
"I think you still haven't grown up enough to realize that everything isn't sunshine and rainbows! This isn't a fairytale!" Nico shouted.
"Yeah. It's not a fairytale. Fairytales have dark, twisted plot lines. In fairytales, people die. In fairytales, people find true love and live happily ever after. Oh, wait. That sounds a little bit like the real world, don't you think? The real world is dark and twisted. People die. People find love and some do live happily ever after! What's so bad about me wanting that?" Tears formed in Hazel's eyes. "I thought you would be happy for me. I guess I was wrong." Hazel walked off.
Nico turned to Frank. "I should mention that I'm a black belt in Karate so if you ever hurt her..." Nico walked off leaving Frank on that happy note.
Percy and Annabeth walked over to Frank.
"What the hell was that?" The blond asked.
"I asked his little sister out. As you can see, he did not take it well." Frank turned to Annabeth.
"Dude. I think you just got a death threat." Percy stared at Frank.
"I told you that guy was scary." Frank noticed Nico was now talking to Will. He was waving his hands around in frustration.
"We're going to lunch. Are you coming with us?" Percy asked Frank.
"Sure. But first I need to go find Hazel."
