3rd person Annabeth POV

November 6

"Where the hell are we going?" Annabeth asked while her boyfriend dragged her down several hallways.

"Um. It goes by many names." Percy turned a corner.

"What's 'it'?" Annabeth was dragged down another hallway.

"We call it 'The Room of Requirement'." Percy knocked on a door. The door opened and a blue eye peeked through the crack.

"Oh, hey Percy. Come on in." The door opened and Jason Grace was standing there. Percy pulled Annabeth into the room.

"What the hell is happening?" Annabeth looked around. She was standing in a surprisingly large room with no windows. There were beanbag chairs everywhere.

"Welcome, Annabeth, to the Nico Protection Squad." Hazel Levesque smiled.

"I object to that name once again!" Nico di Angelo protested.

"Objection denied, once again." Hazel laughed. "We're trying to hunt down Bianca di Angelo and Hyacinth's killer."

"Okay. Why do you need me?"

Percy sat down in a beanbag chair and Annabeth sat in the one next to him.

"We're trying to protect any future victims and so far the only connection is that both all of the victims are LGBTQ students. Your cousin, Magnus and his, uh-" Hazel looked over at Nico. "What is Alex called, boyfriend or girlfriend?"

"Why would I know? I'm not gender fluid, I'm gay!" Nico rolled his eyes.

"Okay, we'll just go with significant other. Anyways, what I was saying is that Magnus Chase and Alex Fierro are both possible targets. We want you to keep an eye on them. Watch them. Guard them."

"Stalk them? Do you realize how creepy this whole thing is?" Annabeth looked at the chalkboard behind Hazel. It looked like a scene from a horror movie. Red string connected photos and articles and note cards together.

"Not necessarily. We're trying to protect people." Hazel reasoned.

"Why exactly are you dragging me into this?" Annabeth sighed.

"We want to you help keep Magnus out of danger. You are his cousin, therefore it will be easier for you to protect him and his SO."

"Fine. I guess I'm in." Annabeth sighed. Now she was part of an amateur murder investigation.

Oh, well. At least I can keep them from doing something stupid. I actually know how to manage an investigation, at least I know how Sherlock Holmes would do it. Annabeth thought.

"Welcome to the operation." Nico said in a monotone.

"Okay. Anything else we want to discuss while we're here?" Hazel asked. Nobody responded. "No? Okay. Please check in with your assignments tomorrow. Meeting adjourned." Everyone got up and started leaving.

"Assignments?" Annabeth turned to Percy.

"We all got assigned people to look after until the murderer is caught." Percy explained as he got up.

"And how did you get dragged into this?" Annabeth asked.

"It's a long story. I'll tell you on our way out."
