Hey y'all. I'll be completely honest. This chapter isn't my favorite. I might redo it again, tweak it a bit more. But for now, I'll share it with you guys. I'll appreciate any constructive criticism please and thanks!

She knew that he was a vampire. She'd expected some sort of transformation: fangs, glowing eyes, etc. She'd known about some of his powers: the telekinesis, telepathy, mind control, etc. She'd also known a little bit about him being cold, devilishly handsome, witty, and intelligent. However, nothing that she'd read about vampires had prepared her for what stood in front of her.

Vincent had joined the others in revealing his true form. It was not for the same reason. He had to defend her from the impending danger of the others attempting to eradicate her, the screaming human. Gabrielle watched in shock, horror, wonder, and fascination as Vincent hunched over, letting out an explosive roar. His skin grayed and his hair spiked slightly. Fingernails grew into sharpened claws and fierce, pointed fangs were revealed, large wings, reminiscent of those of a bat spread wide. And finally, his eyes, like during the dance, glowed a deadly shade of crimson, resembling the nectar that he sustained himself with.

When the transformation was through, Gabrielle noticed that he'd grown a few inches taller, and his muscles, which were already toned, bulged under his skin, making him appear huge and bulky. The stretching made his clothes give way, and they ripped in several places from the force.

Vincent turned his menacing gaze to hold Gabrielle's, showing signs of annoyance and regret. Before she could make a comment, he turned around to face the crowd that had inched closer to where the two of them stood.

So things did not go as planned... No matter. Vincent would get Gabrielle home safely if it was the last thing he did.

Look what you've done... the voice in the back of his head started up again. Your arrogance is going to get her killed. She won't want you after tonight.

A growl escaped his throat as he drove the intrusive thoughts away. He need not be distracted at this point. His priority was protecting his date from the imminent danger threatening to take both their lives. At this point, Vincent had been labeled a traitor for choosing a human over his own kind.

Before any other thoughts could cross his mind, a group of creatures charged in their direction. Vincent threw up his hands, quickly creating a force field around Gabrielle. He himself was attacked, but at least she was shielded from danger. No one would be able to break through that field as long as he was standing. And he would not go down easily. It was not the first time that Vincent had to protect himself from hordes of enemies, and he was determined that it certainly would not be the last.

Using his telekinesis, he threw the first group off him and varying directions. The pulses were so powerful that some had given up just from receiving that first blow. Then there were those who challenged him hand to hand. His reflexes thankfully were not diminished, for it had been quite a while since he had gotten into a physical conflict requiring his transformation. He handled them with expertise, since he was trained in hand to hand combat and self-defense from multiple enemies beginning at a young age. One by one, his enemies either fell by his hand or decided against continuing the conflict.

He could see a means to an end, noting the number of opponents decreasing with every passing second. Mentally, he patted himself on the back for holding his own so well after not fighting for so many years. Vincent had just given a haughty smirk of premature victory when he caught sight of one particular being. "Shit," he whispered, frustrations evident.

The creature, a demon, strong and tall with blackened skin and glowing red eyes, let out a deep rumbling laugh. He rivaled Vincent in height, probably even standing just a hair taller. He also rivaled him in build. "There is indeed a pile of shit standing before me."
