Chapter 6

"Hi Jack!" Linda swooned.

"Hey Linda. " Jack set his food down.

"Hey big bro. " Bobby said smirking.

"Jackie can I talk to you. Alone? " Jack asked taking her arm.

"Sure. Judging by the fact you were gonna pull me away anyhow. "

"Will you go to the dance with me? It doesn't have to be romantic I just can't go with Linda. " Jack pleaded.

"Why not Linda is a nice girl. " Jackie said raising her eyebrows.

"She's nice but also really quiet. I can barley hear a word she says. " Jack laughed causing Jackie to smile.

"But you already asked her. It would be rude to ditch her for somebody else. "

"I know I know. If we could just come up with a plan. " Jack said starting to pace in a circle.

"I might know one. And I'll help you if you promise not to drag me out of class to ask me out. This includes in the halls and during class. "

"I promise to not pull you out of class or ask you out in class but you have to be my date to the dance in order for me to fulfill my promise. "

"Fine. So my plan is we get someone to flirt with Linda and ask her out you step in pretending to be heart broken and you call off you two going to the dance. " Jackie plotted.

"I like the way you think kid! "

"Kid? " Jackie asked as they walked back to the table.

"That's a phrase my family uses. As a sign of endearment I suppose you could say. " Jack explained.

"Oh. " Jackie nodded.

At the Table

"Linda can you help me with something at my locker please? " Jackie asked once they arrived.

"Wouldn't you rather have Ethel? "

"No. No I need your help. "

"Well in that case I guess. "

"Great let's go! " Jackie grabbed Linda by the arm and ran through the cafeteria.

"What was all that about? " Ethel asked.

"Allow me to explain. " Jack said and sorted out the plan to Ethel and Bobby.

"TEDDY! " Bobby yelled

"What about him? " Jack asked.

"He could be the guy who asks Linda out. "

"Bobby he's in the ninth grade he can't even come to the dance. "

"Good point. "

"What about William Patrick? " Ethel suggested.

"Ethel your a genius! " Jack ran off leaving Bobby and Ethel confused.
