Chapter four:

Back at the park:

Nate walks back to the group holding a first aid kit tin in one hand and a muzzle in the other. Becca looks up at him and smiles, takes one look at the muzzle and immediately says, "No way. There is no way you are putting that thing on my dog!"

He sighs, "Fine but will ya let me dress your wound at least. Please?" she thinks for a minute, then gives him a slight nod and a soft smile at the poor pup in time out, he was just trying to play.

Abby untied the dog from the tree and he instantly goes to see if its master was alright, and to make amends for hurting her. Becca smile and put her hand on its head, "It's alright, and it's just a scratch." The dog nuzzled her cheek affectionately making Becca laugh lightly.

Nate smiled at them and took his place on the ground beside Becca; he took her arm gently as he opened the first aid tin. He used the antiseptic wipes to clean around the wound before adding the ointment and the bandage. As he was wrapping the ace bandage around her arm she smiled at him sweetly, "Thank you, for everything."

He finished wrapping the bandage, "It's no problem. What are friends for right? Just please be more careful next time, okay?"

Becca nodded in agreement as she continues to pet her dog. "She didn't mean to hurt anyone, she was just trying to play with us, isn't that right Fido."

Nate puts his arm around her and they both smile at James and Abby talking amongst themselves as if they haven't a care in the world.

James pulls her closer to him till he can put both arms around her small waist, "Abby, I promise. I am fine so stop worrying so much. I brought you out here to have fun with your new little friend Becca."

She gave him a small peck on the cheek, "Okay, I'll stop. Thank you by the way, you know for bringing me out here and letting us all get to hang out together like this. It's really, really nice."

James let go of her as she walked over to Becca and held out her hand to help her from the ground. "Walk with me for a while." She turned back toward the two other boys who were about to follow suit, "You boys stay here, this is girl time" and both girls started down a trail to the side of the park that followed a small river down a ways.

The boys sat down on the tail gate of the truck waiting on their return, Nate turned the key back so they could listen to the radio. Neither one really said much of anything.

The girls both shared secretes and their past stories even about how they met their men. Talked about everything they could think of before they headed back to their boys again. When they got to the break in the trees they took off races to the truck. Abby tripped over a lose root and Becca screamed for Nate as someone came from out of nowhere and grabbed a hold of her. Nate and James both hit the ground running at the sound of their cries.

James took at his switch blade knife and was able to slice the back of the captures arm and he dropped the girl. With a swinging motion he tried to land a punch but was to slow for this protective duo. James and Nate worked well as a team to bring this vile man to his knees.

The stranger was knocked out cold and tied to a nearby bench to await the cops. They all walked back over to Nate's truck.
