Chapter 5: Mr. Know-It-All

I stood up from my seat and went straight to the last booth I bought from.

“Um, excuse me, who’s the chef who baked this?” I pointed to the mousse I bought earlier.

“Oh, that, hold on.” The guy said and tugged the shirt of a tall, muscular guy with black hair.

 “What?” I heard the chef  asked.

“A customer wants to meet the chef.” The guy said.

The tall, muscular guy turned around and said, “How may I help you?”

“Oh..um.” It was kind of hard talking to him because I was looking at his light brown eyes..they’re too mesmerizing you know. But his face was just alright. He’s not the type like Drew who looks friendly or Blake who looks shy. He looks so serious you know.

He just looked at me intently.

“I wanted to know how you did this..” I pointed at the mousse. “You know..the flavour. You see, I’m a student here..foreign student. And I wanted to know..it has this amazing and tension taste. I felt so much feelings. Feelings I never felt before all coming to me. It’s like I’m in a paradise Island. And I felt like..” They waited for my answer.

“falling in love all over again.” I said.

The chef just stared at me. Actually, he wasn’t old. He looked like the same age as me. He wasn’t looking at my eyes directly. I guess he got awkward when he looked at me.

“So..I was hoping you could tell me how you did-” I was interrupted.

“No.”

“What?” I thought I heard wrong.

“No. Find it out on your own. You’re a student right?” He said.

“Yeah..” I said still shock. Even the other guy just stared at him in shock.

“What do you think a student’s job is?” He said sarcastically then went back to his work.

What...the...hell?!

“I’m so sorry miss..He didn’t mean-” I cut the guy off.

My hands slap the table.

“Who do you think you are?!” I shouted at him and every booth was looking at us.

“Someone not like you.” He answered.

I was so shock. It’s like I was stab a million times.

“You don’t know me!” I shouted at him then ran away.

I was already embarrassed enough.

Yes, I wasn’t like him. I don’t have the same skills as him but...that doesn’t mean he could degrade me. All I wanted to know was how he did it, how he created a unique flavour. I never tasted any chocolate-strawberry mousse like his. I tasted a dozen of mousse and they tasted all the same. The same emotionless mousse. But his...It’s so much more than just one emotion.

I immediately went home and once I arrived, I saw no one was home. Aunt Gemi must have gone to her original studio which was bigger.

I sat on the sofa bed and took out my diary.

April 7, 2012. (Saturday)

Dear Diary,

I’m now on France to study in this awesome academy..I went to the mall today and went to a pastry convention. Met an arrogant, sour guy! He’s so full of himself! I hope not to see him EVER again! I’ll be staying in the school from Monday- Friday so that won’t be much of a problem right? I hope so. I hate him so much. If I just had a knife that time I would have sliced him in half!

It just really hurts for him to say that. I may not have a unique recipe right now, but I’m sure after studying in that academy, I can do it. I’ll make the most scrumptious pastry ever made! I know I can do this. With God, everything’s possible. I don’t want to lose hope... Not just because of this Lauren. You’ll never meet the guy anyway and you’ll be able to bake and learn so many things. Not because of this you will cry, if the past loves you had you became strong and not cry, what more this? Right? I think I have to rest. My head’s going to crack in anger.
