Chapter 20: There's Always A First Time For Everything
A couple more months have passed and my dad's business was starting off really well. Since it was a completely new business, we spent majority time publicizing it and making sure people were aware of the new business. Since I was in my last year of high school and it was the most important one , my dad refused to let me work with the business often. And to be fair, he's right to do that. I've been stressed more than a 18 year old should. Senior dues deadlines were coming up and I was so close to being finished paying for everything. I had my own job for a while now and I refused to let my dad pay for anything. I had to do this on my own and so I did.

The rest of my senior year flew by. Before I knew it, it was graduation day and my dad's business was in full swing. Me and Anilah were on our way to the school with my dad when we ran into Audrey. We haven't spoken since she got out of the hospital and I honestly had no intentions of speaking to her. But, since it was our final days seeing each other, I made "amends". And trust me, I still hate the bitch. I'm not one for holding grudges but she's just so... Ugh. I wasn't going to let her ruin my day though. I wasn't going to let anything ruin my day. Not even my dad's worrisome expression..Wait. What?
I looked over to my dad and he had worry plastered all over his face.
"Dad? What's wrong?"
"Nothing honey. I'll tell you later. Go take your place though. The ceremony seems to be starting."
He was right. It was starting. So, instead of pressing my dad, I went to take my place. But I hope he knows I was going to get it out of him sooner or later.

"Stella Williams."As I walked across the stage, the room was filled with cheers and whistles. As I shook hands, I looked up.
"We did it Alexis. We finally did it."

Once the ceremony was over and everyone finished hugging and saying their goodbyes, My dad, Anilah, and I went out to eat. But it was 3 hours later since I saw my dad and he still had that worried look on his face."Okay. What's wrong dad?" I asked facing him. "You've had that look on your face all day."
"Its nothing dear. It just seems that there's something up with the business. I'm worried that we won't fix it."
"Look dad, there's going to be problems. But hey, there's a first time for everything. We'll get through whatever it is." I smiled reassuringly.
"Thanks honey. I'm so proud of how mature you girls have become." He smiled.
After we ordered our food, we ate and talked the whole time. It seemed to be that the atmosphere was filled with good vibes and that's how liked it. Because it seemed like the second something happens, its not good for anyone. After eating and paying, I asked my dad if we could drop by Alexis' house after we dropper Anilah off.
When we got there, I got out the car and tied my balloons and placed a teddy bear in front of her house.
"Congratulations Alexis. I love you so much." I said tears starting to fill my eyes.
"I know she's proud of you honey." My dad said hugging me. "She couldn't be more proud. And i agree. I couldn't be more proud either."
"I love you Dad." I smiled tearily.
"I love you more princess. Now let's go home. I have a surprise."
"Com on dad you know I hate surprises."
And I did. Ever since that whole... Carter situation. I hated surprises. So you'd understand why I was skeptical about this whole thing.
But, my dad did not listen to me not one bit. He ignored my whining the whole ride but when I took my blindfold off, I was definitely surprised.
"A car?!?" I squealed. "No freaking way!"
I swear I have never jumped out of a car so fast. It wasn't just any car though. It was a freaking jaguar. It was black and gold with an black interior.
"Thank you so much dad. I love it so much. Thank you thank you thank you." I said cheesing so hard my cheeks were starting to hurt.
"Anything for my princess. Words can't explain how proud i am of you. This hadn't been the easiest two years but you managed to make it work. I love you."
"It wasn't hard when I had you dad. I love you too." I said hugging him.

1 YEAR LATERMy first year of college was finally over. And man was it stressful. But it was nothing I couldn't handle. I ended up going to Florida Atlantic University. Even though it was far from home, I knew my dad would be occupied with his business. Oh that's right I never told you what it was in the first place.

Since my dad was working for this huge technology firm called "Tech and Go", he decided that he's found his true passion and thats when he went for the business. As of right now, hes working on an app that helps those who need a family find one. It gives them someone to talk to and just so they don't do anything they'd regret it. It actually blew up and there's already 3 million downloads. My dad was happy and that's all that mattered. The money didn't matter.

After I finished packing up my things from my dorm, I made my way to the airport. After a 3 hour flight, I finally was in the comfort of my hometown. As I was walking off the plane, I saw my dad and immediately ran into his arms."I missed you so much dad." I said into his shoulder.
"Ditto. How was your first year of college?" He asked as he grabbed my suitcase from baggage claim.
"It was great! I actually decided I wanted to be a lawyer."
"That's great honey! I know you'll be perfect."
"Thanks dad." I smile. "Let's go home."
On the ride home, I filled my dad in on everything.
Man was it great to be home.
