Elena's POV

The rest of the day passed by relatively quickly. I sat with Mia and Kira at lunch. Only this time Zack had some basketball team meeting to attend about the upcoming practices. So here I am at home, finishing my homework for the day because that's how cruel our school is. Homework on the first day, ain't that lovely.

Somehow even the wall in front of me manages to look interesting when I'm doing school work. I'm distracted from my work as the doorbell rings. Can't be dad, he's at work and I don't recall making plans with Mia and Kira either. This is new. I check my hair and face before answering the door because well obvious reasons.

"Hey there neighbor I was wondering if you could lend me the algebra book for an hour, I lost mine." He says shrugging and putting his hands into his pockets. He shoots me a cocky smile as he runs his fingers through his perfect brown hair that is apparently glowing.

"You lost your book...on the first day. You'd have to be a special kind of stupid to do that," I pause as I raise my eyebrows in disbelief folding my hands under my chest. "Well alright come on in while I get the book." I sigh knowing that he probably won't go away without it. How does one even lose a book on the first day?

"Well I wouldn't call it stupid, more like talented. Just matters on how you see things in life Chica. Oh and I've got many more talents such as those in bed you know-" I stop him right there. No, I don't need to know. And wait Chica? Is he Spanish? Fuck.

"Actually no I don't know and I wouldn't like to know thank you very much. Make yourself at home I guess while I get the book." I say as I start walking up the stairs and into my room.

"What no drinks?" Diego calls out from the living room, I can practically see the smirk plastered on his face.

"Well here's the book, make sure you return it by tomorrow and try not to spill anything on it." I say as I'm handing the book to a boy who's basically lying down on my sofa looking like he can stay there till tomorrow.

"Oh no don't worry I take my studies very seriously I especially enjoy learning anatomy." He shoots a playful wink and his face forms a cocky smile. Such a fuck boy.

"Actually I should've specified-" He stops talking as he opens the book. His face twitches as he looks at me with a whole different expression. All his cockiness gone and his eyebrows furrowing as if he's trying to decipher something. His smile drops and he suddenly turns all serious. He closes his eyes as if trying to recall a memory or perhaps to recompose himelf. He opens them again and nothing changes. He still has the confused look and his eyes are carrying a look of pain. It's not like I've got the hieroglyphics on my face, what the heck is going on?

"Uhm Diego," I pause as I look at him with a concerned face. "Is everything alright? Your expression, it took a 180 turn."

"Huh what yeah I was just looking at how hard the math is," he chuckles nervously scratching the back of his neck. "You know I've really got to get going. Thanks." He says as he closes the book and waves me Goodbye.

"Bye." I call out and close the front door. What the heck was that about? I know he wasn't looking at the math, he didn't even get passed the table of contents. Did I write something? Is there something in the book that I didn't notice? Whatever it was it sure caused that mood change.

I stop dwelling on what has just happened as I try to go to grab a snack. Fruit salad it is I say and take out some apples, strawberries, bananas, kiwis and grapes.
