Francis was about to reply to J, but his phone started ringing again. Before he could hear the awful ring tone any further, he immediately answered the call as a smile slithered on his face.

"Hello?" Just like before, but this time the speaker on the other end didn't stop to confirm whether he was who she thought he was. As this time, she knew who he was already.

"H-Hi, Francis," her voice sounded so weak and. . . broken, yet so beautiful and angelic at the same time.

For some reason, the wide smile still lingered on his face as he spoke. "Hey, J. I finally get to hear you speak, huh? Properly this time."

There was shuffling on the other end and then, "Y-Yeah. My voice isn't that g-good, but um. . ."

"You don't have to be shy," he told her, wanting her to be completely comfortable with him. "We have been talking to each other for quite a while now."

"But t-that was t-through message, Francis," she pointed out. "This i-is different," then after a pause, she confessed, "I really like your voice. Has that m-manly touch to it."

Francis sniffled a laugh, finding her confession rather cute and childish. "Men have manly voices, J. I'm not a boy anymore."

J gasped and joked, "Y-You're an o-old person?"

He laughed once again, enjoying this conversation a lot. "Maybe. . . I mean you haven't seen me so you can't tell anything, can you?"

"Not really,"

"So what made you want to call me? I'm positive that it wasn't a mistake, right?" He was dying to know what made J forget her fears for a second and call him. Even a fool wouldn't believe her if she said to him that it was a mistake.

"I-I don't know," she replied, sighing. "I think we're taking things quickly and hastily, b-but I don't want i-it to end as well. Despite w-what I say to you."

"I wouldn't mind waiting, J," he said honestly. "I mean I really won't want all this to end so suddenly, but I can give you some time," He paused and then continued, "If you, um, want to, that is."

"No," she whispered, and then in a loud and audible voice, "No. I don't want this to end. Not now, and not ever."

The line went dead. And she didn't pick up the phone for the rest of the day.

How was this conversation between J and Francis? It wasn't long as such, but it was pretty fruitful and ended up paving a road for rekindling their friendship. And that, I believe, was necessary, don't you agree?
