She was six when she was told that she was going to have a brother.

She was overjoy.

Thinking about how she was finally have someone to talk to. Someone to keep her accompany. Someone that would actually love her.

"A brother?" She asked with a soft voice.

Her mother beamed brightly. That was the first time the older woman ever smile. Even though it was not meant for her.

"Yes. And you will be taking care of him you understood?"

"I promise." She said as she stared at her mother's now round stomach.

Her brother is the most beautiful creature she ever laid her eyes on. He was so tiny and so pale. A tuff of pale golden hair on his head. His eyes clamped shut as he sleep in content. She kissed her brother's forehead and the baby coo in his sleep.

"I'll take care of you brother dear."

She promised. And she intended to keep it.

She read every book of babies and observing the people around her. How parents take care of their childrens and how they show their love.

Love.

She does not understand what love is.

Her parents are not like the other parents she observed in her daily life.

They does not wish her goodbye or touch her. They did not coax her when she woke up from her nightmare at night. They does not smile at him.

And she knew why.

For eleven years of her life, she now understand why.

She knew why they does not love her as a parents should.

She doesn't have her father's dark, thick eyebrows. She does not have her mother's icy blue eyes. And she surely does not have sharp face structure as her parents did. But she did have her mother's lips.

She caught the wind that she was actually not her father's daughter. That her mother was raped when her parents went to their honeymoon. That her mother tried to abort her but failed.

It all makes sense.

Why they won't look at her with love and passion. Why they always struck her in the face and left her to starve. Why they always forgot to let her out of the cellar.

But she won't let any of that happen to her dear brother. She will protect her.

Her mother much more cheerful these days. Her father was always at home now, dining together with them. Seems like Thranduil's birth made their life much more bearable, much more lighter. They always pat him in the head, tucked him to bed, and they gave him all of their love.

She envy her brother for that. She wanted to feel what he feel.

They still ignoring her. But that's fine, as long as Thranduil is happy.

"(Y/N)?" Came a small voice of a child.

"Yes Thranduil? What do you need of me?" She replied with a smile on her face.
