"No...no you can't! You can't leave me hanging like this!"
"I do not want to leave you my love, but the choice is not in my hand."
"No...no." He whimpered. Tossing and turning in his bed. Thin sheen of sweat on his brow. With a sharp gasp, he shot out of his dream.
Or more like memories.
It's been years since the passing of his wife. And he still could not let her go. Meeting her for the first time was not a romantic thing for him to tell the others, and yet it still held a great meaning to him.
Loki had decided that living in Asgard was no longer an option for him. As much as he loves his mother, he had tolerate long enough with the taunts and scorns from the Asgardian. He despite Midgard but it was the only realm he had not yet fully explored.
So he went to Midgard and started his own life. He worked as a librarian just for fun. There are some benefits comes with the jobs. The money he got from the job was not much but he was no in need of money, he could just conjure them out of thin air, he only did so to keep up with the reputation. Less will ask him questions regarding his living style.
He met her in one of the usual uneventful day in the library. The place was empty saved from few peoples who absorbed into their works or readings. It was his break time, and he went to his usual spot at the back of the library to continue reading a novel that made by a particular mortal that goes by the name Shakespeare.
But there was someone in his seat. A young women with her back to him. She had long wavy (H/C) hair. The light that poured into the library from the window beside her creating a halo around her head. That sight alone made his breath hitched. Mask carefully held in place, he walked towards her.
A smell of something wafted into his nose. Food. She brought food into the library.
'Mortal and their behaviour .'
This time he walked towards her with intention in scolding her for breaking the rules.
"Excuse me miss, but food and drink are not allowed here." He said sternly. He still couldn't see her face that buried into the book. Her right hand directly above the food container. Rounds things that made from flour and some paper like thing.
'What kind of food is that?'
She was obviously startled when she hard his voice. The book slammed shut as a silent gasp left her mouth. Oh, Norns, she's so beautiful. Her (E/C) eyes seemed to light up. Wide and innocent with a tint of shock into them. Her mouth opened and closed for a while as she struggled to say something.
"Uh-uh yeah sorry. But I'm kinda hungry so...do you want some?" She quickly changed the subject.
Poor girl. Her face was red from embarrassment.
Loki heaved a sigh. "Are you trying to bribe me or what?"
She became more flustered. "What? No, no of course not! I can go if you want me to." She quickly scrambled up and collected her things.
"No. Just don't do it again. Please, sit. I'm having my break right now."
"So...want some?" She offered him again.
"What is that?"
"How could you not know this? It's called Takoyaki. Well, from the name you could conclude it's origin. Here." She held one for him.
She realised her mistake and quickly said, " Oh, sorry! I'm...uh...here, feed yourself." She held out the stick.
But Loki just opened his mouth and took a bite from it. Her face turned beet red at his action. He smirked internally, knowing that feeding someone is a loving act towards the other. And he knew that he's falling hard for this human.
And their bond getting strong with the passing time. They started becoming friend and he was smitten with her. Her presence made him happy, warming up his cold and broken heart.
It took years for him to gather his courage to propose her.
"(Y/N)...will you marry me?"
Fortunately she said yes.
It was a happy marriage for both him and (Y/N). But there is something you can truly believe for the mortal to do, to die.
You've warned him about your mortality. That one day you would leave him behind, engulfed in grief and sadness. You've warned him and everyone will die whether they like it or not. It's the only thing that mortal is excellent in. The only promise they would keep when the time arrived.
It was a sunny day in the metropolitan city. Just another ordinary day with the people bustling down the streets or chattering with one another. But it only takes ordinary days for anyone to meet Death.
It was a simple accident that led to a far more severe one. They were walking down the road with groceries bags in hands. She was laughing. Her face red due to the cold air of December.
A man that lacked of warm clothing ran from the opposite direction. Looking over his shoulder from time to time, an obvious sign that he was running from someone.
The man ran and collided with (Y/N). She gasped as she was propelled and her feet slipped. It shouldn't her life, only some minor injury like twisted ankle but no. Fate had been written that there would be a car that lose control and crash to the shop they both were standing in front of.
The car crashed into the shop, some were fortunate to escape, but some not, that's including (Y/N).
"Grief me not, Loki. Go back to Asgard, and seek for peace. Go back to your mother. Maybe there is a new beginning awaits for you."
He mourned for her still, despite her last wish for him not to. Her absence in his life was too much for him too bear. Every breath he took, every step he walked, it reminds him of you. He lingered on Earth until he could do it no more. The place made him felt suffocated. That was when he made up his mind and return to Asgard. For him to find peace and for him to accept that you are gone.
He heals.
It took some time but he did. The pain was not too noticeable now. He still remember you but he didn't cry at the mere thought of you. He smiles instead, treasuring every little memories he have.
He took a trip to Vanaheim when he knew that indeed, he have a new beginning. He saw a woman from afar. Her hair tied in a low pony tail, her body adorned with silver and gold. But those eyes, he knew those eyes everywhere. He watched as those beautiful orbs glistened with tear as his own did.
"(Y/N)...beloved. " he breathed out.
"Loki..."
That's when he knew that you are his. You were reborn as a Vanir and this time, you won't be leaving him anytime soon.
