(Colton’s POV)

I knew it was her. She was back already. Her car pulled up right next to my bus. I had started breathing hard and the kid next to me looked at me like I was a freak. Little freshmen.

Was she back for me? She was, wasn’t she? I was smiling to myself. Doing the right thing had really paid off in the end. She’d be sitting at my doorstep as soon as I pulled up. She really wanted me back. Finally.

The result was different though. Amy and Avery were hugging, and Avery was crying on Amy’s porch. Something had to have happened. I’ve never seen Avery cry. I nearly ran off the bus and straight up to them. Eli trailed behind me, but he went into our house.

I tapped Avery’s shoulder with a smile on my face. She turned around and then a smiled appeared on her face, but it wasn’t for me. It was for Eli. I thought he went into the house? Crap.

She ran from Amy right into Eli’s opened arms. This moment almost reminded me of the time a few months ago when her and Isabella had visited, but she was in my arms, not Eli’s.

I could hear Eli whispering something into her ear. He hugged her tight and planted a kiss on the top of her head. I couldn’t believe this.

“Is it OK if I go and hang out with Eli, Amy?” She asked.

“Sure sweetie. Have fun. Hey Colton.”

“Hi.” I waved.

Then Eli and Avery left, her arm linked in his. I whipped my phone out and called Shay. I needed someone, now.

“Uh Colton? Didn’t I say don’t call me?” She answered.

“Sort of, but I need some company.”

“Why should I? I don’t mean anything to you.”

“I miss you though.” I turned up the charm.

“Ah, OK. My house. Ten Minutes.” Then she hung up.

I ran into my house and grabbed my mom’s car keys. She was sleeping and wouldn’t be up for a good two hours, I was safe.

I sped over to Shay’s. Her parents worked crazy hours. It was a Wednesday, so they were working until two in the morning.

Shay walked out in a mini skirt and a tank top. She looked hot.

“You look great, Shay.” I told her.

“I know.” She swung her blonde hair over her shoulder and beckoned me to follow her inside.

When I got home, I regretted ever going to Shay’s. Things happened that should have never happened. Shay and I were over. There was nothing left of us. We both knew all we wanted from each other was a little companionship.

Eli still hadn’t returned. I wondered what him and Avery were doing right now. Even though it had been over seven months, Eli was still ignoring me for what I had done. I wish I could just take it all back. No one will listen to me about it though.

I honestly don’t think anything would be the same again. Eli will hate me forever, Avery will look at me with not love, but disgust, and Levi, he would never be close with me again.

Gosh, that’s another thing I miss. Levi and I had been best friends since I was in second grade. We have been until this year. We hit senior year and everything went downhill. He got in with the wrong crowd. Started doing the wrong things. Then he fell in love with Avery when he met her and got jealous when he found out we were sharing a beach house and then he found out about the cheating.
