Chapter Eight

Sam walks towards me, and I take another step back. I wasn’t sure if it was all real or if it was one of my stupid dreams. I had to wake up, ‘Olivia, wake up!’ I said over and over as Sam got closer. While taking steps away from him I ran into a tree that stopped me as he rushed over quickly so I couldn’t get away.

His lips met mine, but I had to jerk my head to the side. Not now, I have to think! His finger pulls my chin back to the position it was in. “It’s okay, just trust me. I couldn’t ever hurt you Olivia, you’re my soul mate.” My stomach built up with butterflies as he gets closer we kissed. So soft but firm – he was right. We were meant to be together.

“Can you explain a bit more about this whole thing?” I raised my eye brow at him as I said it. He gives a slight smile “Yeah, let’s walk and talk. It’s getting late and I’m sure Helen won’t be happy if we miss dinner.” He was right, we needed to get back we had been gone a good half hour. We walk through the tress and he wraps his arm around my waist trying to comfort me with every word.

“My family originates from Italy. To make this simpler I’ll just tell you the story. My great, great, great, great, great grandfather – he was hunting in the woods one day when he came across enemy lines. He tried to run as fast as he could but it wasn’t fast enough. The enemies beat him until he was almost dead. They left him to die in the woods until a wolf came to him.  He thought the wolf was there to eat his dying body. Instead the wolf bit him so that he would live – he would have to become a werewolf though. His ‘wolf’ bite surged through his blood. ” He stopped as we sat down to finish the conversation since we were close to my mother’s house.

“My great, great, great, great, great grandfather was told he would now have to be one of them. The genetics were now in his blood stream. He told himself he would never find his soul mate so that nobody else had to suffer the wolf life.” I was still in shock, this wasn’t real still. He continues, “After time passed, he let go of it all. He loved the wolf life and met my great, great, great, great, great grandmother who was a human. It is custom for wolfs soul mate to be human and not wolves. There is no such thing as “mating” it’s also a myth to be used in movies.” I was still staring at him, my body was numb.

“My father is a wolf, but my mother is not. Why do you think he was so perfect for the army? He never got cold, great runner, could sense anything within a five mile radius. But like humans, we die when we’re old or if something happens to us.” That’s why Barb was acting like she was, when we told her about the pregnancy. I gasped.

The Pierce’s gene will be transferred to my child – what am I going to do, will my child understand it, and will Sam explain it to the kid? Questions going through my mind, and Sam could tell. “Olivia, honey – it is okay I promise. I’ve been in the situation before it really isn’t too bad.” I finally talked “How old…till the process starts?” I had to force it out of my mouth but I did “About sixteen or seventeen years old – but you are suppose to explain it to them after puberty just in case he or she is an early bloomer.” I looked away, stood up and started walking back to the house a few feet away.

I couldn’t deal with this right now, it’s not real. It’s a joke; I’m being pranked right now. Sam isn’t a wolf, this was just a joke. A very well thought out and planned joke; but what about in the woods, what was “back” that Sam mentioned? Why did he have his dad come to help him, what exactly did they do? I had so many questions but right now wasn’t the time. We head into my mom’s house and hear Bella babbling about something in the kitchen. The table was already set, so we took our seats. “Are you okay honey?” my mom came to my side, “Yeah, I’m fine.” I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror before I sat down. My face was ghost white and sweat beads lay on my forehead. “Must be the flu or something” I said quietly to her, but she could tell I was lying. Would I be able to tell my mom? Oh lord, please help me!
