Chapter 6
"What are you?"I asked Seth, I knew the answer but a little confirmation wouldn't hurt. Learning that both of the mythical creatures were real was too much to take. I found it mesmerizing in books, but in real life, not so much. It's not something you wanted to meddle in, because they could kill you in seconds. I didn't try to think about what he said about swearing to his lineage that he would die protecting me because I thought he would just notice me blushing even though I didn't have that much blood in my body anymore.
"A werewolf," he said. "Great—huh?"
"You were paranoid because you just learned that you imprinted on a newly turned vampire," now that I thought of it, all of it made sense.
"You knew the word imprint now?" he chuckled, but I could see sadness in his eyes, thinking of how the heaven's made a mistake by making him imprint on a vampire. Maybe he was hoping to imprint on a girl who was human. It would all make sense if he found me before my family got murdered, but no, fate wanted this to happen. It wanted me to suffer. "Werewolves and vampires are sworn enemies,"
"Wait, so Jacob is a werewolf too?" I asked him and he gave me a nod for an answer. I could sense that we were near their place and I could slowly feel the wound closing. "But why are you friends with the Cullens? They're vampires,"
"Our pack," he started to explain, "The werewolf on our side or let's say family, we made a deal with the Cullens, once they harm a human, we are free to attack. The Cullen's are vegetarians if you would say, they only feed on the blood of animals. The blood Carlisle just offered you? It was human blood, Carlisle have many of that but I think they just used it when Bella got pregnant, Carlisle got it from the hospital, he's a doctor you know,"
"A doctor?" I asked him. "But I thought that vampires can't handle blood? I read it in a book,"
"Not Carlisle," he replied. "He can control his self around blood," silence fluttered around us after he said that. I still felt a little uncomfortable around Seth, knowing that he imprinted on me and all, it was judgemental. Thinking that what if he didn't like me gave me a migraine, and I supposed vampires never get migraines.
"I'm sorry," I blurted out, breaking in the silence.
"Why?" he stared at me in awe, even I, didn't know what I did wrong directly. I would just make his life suffer. I was not the ideal type of girl. I was just some quiet, nerdy girl who didn't like to dress up to get guys. Seth was a guy and I was someone with no experience with the likes of him. I bet he dated dozens of girls. But I really felt sorry for him—for myself, I was a vampire who was a sworn enemy of all werewolves, I bet nobody could get through it.
"For running away in the woods that you stumbled upon me," I told him. "For not being a fast runner that I stumbled upon the rock you threw at me, for not dodging that because I'm not the best runner and for being weak that I fell on the ground long enough for you to imprint on me," I lowered my head down, not wanting to catch his eyes.
He chuckled, and I got no choice but to look at him. "Even though I haven't found you that day," he explained. "We'll still see each other anyway. You're my imprintee and you'll never get away from me," he said it like he was proud to have me for an imprintee. Even though I didn't show it, I felt happy knowing that you wouldn't be abandoned by someone who was destined to be with you for the rest of your life. "We're here, let's treat your wound, okay?"
Seth brought me to another house, other than Jacob's house. "Jacob's not your brother, right?" I asked him.
"No," he shook his head. "Not at all, just a close friend of our family," I thought I would say 'I knew it' out loud but I was pretty happy that I didn't. We went inside the house and he placed me on a gray-colored sofa. "Leah, will you please come here?" he called to the kitchen—that I noticed because of the stove and the dining table.
"Why did Embry attack me?" I started to ask him again. "I mean, do you know him? I thought your side had a deal with the Cullens?"
Just in time for Seth to answer my question, a girl who was around her twenties came from the kitchen and looked at Seth then to me. She had dark hair like Seth but her eyes were a little bigger than his. She stared at my wound and she somehow knew what to do just by saying, "I'm on it,"
"Thanks, Leah," Seth told her and she gave him the nod. "That's my sister, so, back to your question, Jacob, Leah, and I were once in the pack with him, The Uley pack. But when they started to attack the Cullen's because they turned Bella into a vampire, which was the same thing as harming a human. Jacob left the pack and started to protect the Cullens—Bella because he loved her a—"
"Wait, Jacob loves Bella?" I asked, quite stunned to hear that.
"Loved. That ended until Renesmee came, Edward and Bella's daughter. Before that, Jacob tried to imprint on Bella but he couldn't because that's how it works. So, Jacob decided to leave the pack then Leah and I decided to quit the pack to and follow him, we were allies with the Cullens when the Volturi came,"
"Volturi?" hearing that awkward name made me feel like I was in danger. It was a powerful word and I wanted to swear to never use or hear that terrifying word again.
"You shouldn't ask me about the Volturi, I'm not a vampire," he said and I gave him a nod to continue what he was talking about. "But other than that, nothing to worry, the Uley pack backed off a little and I thought Embry attacked you because he doesn't know that you're now a Cullen,"
"Well, that took a lot of explaining," then we both laughed for what I said, just enough time for Leah to step into our conversation.
"So, she's your imprintee'?" Seth gave her the nod and then she made her way to me. She somehow brought some medicine kit so she could cure my wound which was halfway from closing but was preventing it because it was too deep. "Let's cure your wound," I managed to resist the pain urging from my skin. Leah was stitching the wound to close it. She said that there was nothing to worry about because my vampire body would just dissolve the strings and it would come back to being flawless—not that I was concerned. "She needs to rest,"
Seth told me that I needed to sleep in his room and that he was going to sleep on the sofa. I insisted that he didn't need to do that and I should be the one to sleep on the sofa instead. But he was stubborn, he lifted me off of the sofa and brought me to a room just like the one I stayed in when he found me, but the walls were cleaner, no posters, but instead a portrait of his self.
"Clearwater?" I asked him, thinking that it was a cool family name.
"Yeah," he said. "What's yours?"
"Johnson," I told him. I was not even sure if I could keep that surname a little longer because I thought it would change to Cullen from now on. I was doubting to keep my family name, it was a remembrance from them after all.
He placed me on the white-sheeted bed and he instantly turned the lights off and headed out. I wanted to know if vampires or half-vampires were still required to sleep, but I got my answer when I closed my eyes and when the darkness consumed me.

I was an early riser even before my newly-given life. The sun was already up and I could assume that it was only around seven-thirty in the morning. I could smell the warm breeze of the air coming from the window so I decided to head outside the house. It was Saturday today so I thought no school for me, ever. Seth was still asleep for I could hear him mumbling something on the sofa. But even with my vampire hearing, I couldn't still make out the words.
I went outside and took a walk at the left side of the blue-painted house. I went to the woods, took a seat on the fallen leaves and rested my back comfortably on a tree. I breathed the breeze and started to feel good once again.
I stared at a tree and I felt myself staring at it awfully. For about seven seconds, something terrifying blew my mind when that tree started to ...burn.
