Sirena’s POV

“Who’s your date to the Halloween dance since it’s a girls ask guys thing?” Giselle timidly asked. I pondered on the question yet having the face of Liam pop into my head. The plan that Taylor had conjured up was not going exactly as planned. Even though it was a girls ask guys dance I have been asked by many guys these past two weeks I still haven’t accepted any invitations still trying to build up the courage to ask Liam.

“No one. I think I might be flying solo this dance. What about you?” My voice was a bit over a whisper but the distance between us was very short so I knew she was able to hear my response. Her facial expression seemed a little low compared to her usual bubbly self. Why on Earth am I just noticing this now?

“I think I might be joining you on the solo team this dance too. I haven’t really thought of asking anyone” Her response surely surprised me considering how many guys I see talking to her, not implying that she’s a slut or anything but that she always has a guy wanting to be by her side.

“That’s quite a shock. Didn’t you tell me that you wanted to ask Josh?” When I looked at her face her icy blue eyes looked shiny and her mouth had that little curve it gets when she is about to cry. A tear slid down her face as she replied,

“Josh had asked me out on a date, and well you know how popular the new captain of the baseball team is so everyone knew about it. You were cramming in study time that whole week so you were in the library away from the gossip. The day after our date he had apparently told his friends that I was bad in bed and well he led on everyone to thinking I was easy…” It took me a while to process what she had said but as soon as I did we were out of school grounds surrounded by mostly everyone in school since it was now 3:45 in the afternoon. I know for a fact Giselle would not give “it” up on the first date, especially not to a guy she hardly even knew.

“Why the hell didn’t you tell me about this?”

“I didn’t think it would matter. What could you have done that would have helped? What’s done is done.” Her voice was cracking and by the looks of things she was hurting and I wasn’t making things better. I embraced her in a hug and felt warm tears on my shoulder. The only thing going through my mind was that Josh was definitely not going to just be let off the hook. I’ve known this guy for a while now but I wouldn’t have guessed he would do such a thing and especially to such a sweet girl like Giselle. She was one of the closest friends I had and shit like this was not going to be unattended to if I have anything to do with it.

Giselle had her mum pick her up while I headed over to the boy’s baseball practice.

Sitting on the stands, I spotted Josh on first base sending winks to girls passing by. Practice was going to be over in ten minutes so I decided to just listen to music as I reviewed the outfit I was going to wear three days from now to the Halloween dance. Getting lost in the thought of how I was going to have my hair I saw Coach Hefley sending the guys to the showers. I picked up my bag and quickly jumped down and ran across the diamond field. The dark brown hair that Josh had stood out like a needle in the hay stack so it took me a while to spot him until I asked Logan who said he had gone to the nurse’s office from having a knock in the eye from a curved ball. My feet moved toward the path the office was in; I made sure no one was around just in case things were to get rowdy. There I spotted Josh grabbing an ice pack from the freezer in the nurse’s office.

“So,” I waited for Josh to notice my presence and when he did I continued,” how’s it like being the new captain of the baseball team? Being the big shot of the school getting to your head?” He almost seemed happy about my choice of words in describing what he was in school.
