"Broken heart, broken bones.
Deep inside her soul was stoned.
Dark brown hair, hazel eyes.
Malicious smirks hiding her cries."

~~~"A cliff?" Scott asked confused.
It wasn't any old cliff. This cliff was were Cassandra spent most of her childhood. She'd walk down here to avoid the shouts of disappointment from her mother and stay here until it was dark. The cliff was very secluded and wasn't well known to people but the view was magnificent, the moon was the only resource of light and Cassie smiled happily.
"I used to come here when I was a kid," Cassie said, getting out the car and closing the door behind her, Scott followed a few moments after her. She glanced over to him as she leaned against the railings. "I found it when I was hiding from Mom."
"Why were you hiding?" Scott asked, standing besides her, his azure eyes watching her carefully.
Cassie shrugged. "Mom wasn't a happy person after dad left when I was a baby. She would take it out on me if I disappointed her so I used to stay here every so often to avoid that."
"Did she...." He trailed off, feeling unsure. Cassie gave him a side glance.
"Did she what?"
"Did she physically abuse you, Cassie?" He asked. She didn't even flinch or wince. There was no reaction, she just remained silent as she stared out into the distance, her eyes blank and unreadable.
After a moment, she replied. "Some days."
He sucked in a sharp air of breath. It killed him, knowing that someone harmed her and he wasn't there to protect her.
"I still have scars." She admitted, not even feeling ashamed or insecure anymore.
Scott reminded looking at her, not breaking his gaze away, afraid that he'd miss a moment of weakness that she'd show unconsciously.
"Where?"
She lifted the right sleeve on her turtle neck, showing her wrist were a in Chinese writing the word 'warrior' was inked on her skin and a small black bird on the corner of it. It had been the first tattoo she had got and she didn't regret it one bit. Scott gently to touched the nearly inked writing on her wrist, inspecting it with curiosity.
"Underneath the tattoo was a burn mark from a curling iron." Cassie said to Scott. The scar was unrecognisable as it had been so incredibly hidden away under the black ink. "Mom burnt my wrist when I was eight because I was disturbing her whilst she was curling her hair."
Scott looked up at her, noticing the faraway look in her eyes as she gazed at her tattoo. It broke his heart a little more.
"I just wanted to know what I was eating for dinner if she was going out." Her voice cracked. And so did her heart.
"Cass-"
She shook her head and covered her wrist. She could remember her cries. The scar was really dark as her mom held the curling iron in the one position for a really long time. The tattoo covered the biggest part of the scar but you could still see the darkest part of Cassie's life.
