"Love is war, I'm your soldier
Touchin' you like it's our first time
I'ma put you to bed, bed, bed."

The day of Cassie's birthday arrived quicker than expected. It fell on a cold Saturday. Her plan for today was to chill with her friends and not make a big fuss but Scott had other ideas, ones that she wasn't aware of.

It was cold morning when Cassie woke up to loads of birthday messages from her friends and people at school. On social media she was greeted happy birthday from people she didn't even know. She got messages from her cousins and relatives. She got texts from her friends and voice call from a her one and only. She went through everything before listening to Scott's message.

"Happy birthday, princess. I wish you the best in everything and hope that I could bring all the happiness you ever wanted. Today will be a special day so get ready because at twelve, Ava and Isla will be taking you shopping. Today I'm spoiling you so that means no using your money. Ava will have my card, whatever you want you get, no arguments.

After they've taken you shopping, they'll bring you to your next destination and you'll have a message there. I hope you enjoy today and I can't wait to see you at the end of it. Happy birthday, Angel.

From yours truly, Scott."

Cassie grinned subconsciously, biting her lower lip as she tried to contain her happiness. Glancing at the time, she noticed she had thirty minutes to get ready so she hopped out of bed and rushed to her bathroom where she freshened up before heading to her closet and pulled something warm to wear.

When she got changed in plain dark blue skinny jeans and a woolly jumper with heels, Ava and Isla had arrived and was waiting outside in Ava's car. Cassie grabbed her things before heading downstairs, shouting to no one particular that she was leaving and exited the house.

Ava sent her a wide grin and squealed. "Happy birthday, bitch!"

Cassie chuckled and smiled softly back as she took a seat in the front. "Thanks, Ava."

Isla, who was at the back, handed Cassie a note with a mysterious grin on her face, shades covering her eyes so Cassie had no idea what she was feeling.

"From Scott. We haven't opened it. We were waiting for you."

Ava began to drive as Cassie unfolded the note. Giving her a side glance, she demanded. "Read it out loud then."

Cassie shot her a look before rolling her eyes and reading the note aloud. "Hi, baby girl. You're probably wondering why you've got a note. Well I'm not going to clear up any confusions. You're on your way to the mall and I want to remind you that Ava had my card so that means no spending your money. Buy a nice dress among other stuff. Scott."

Ava and Isla both awed while a blush coloured Cassie's cheeks as she smiled to herself, tucking the note into the pocket of her jeans. The whole journey there, her friends excitedly gushed on about what they want to get while Cassie sat silently, looking out the window and watching the buildings pass by, and wondered how on earth she got a guy like Scott.

Going from store to store, the girls ended up leaving the mall with at least seven bags each. At first Cassie protested about using Scott's card but Ava took her purse and shoved the card into her hold, scolding at her and telling her to do exactly what Scott asked. So reluctantly she used it.
