"Here I stand and here I stay,
Let the storm rage on.
The cold never bothered me anyways."
-Let it Go, Frozen
~~~"Prom?"
Cassie blinked, halting from drinking as she looked up at Scott as he peered down at her with a determined look across his face. She pondered on her reply, Ava and Isla, who were sitting besides her, smirking as they already knew what she was about to say.
"No."
His eyes widened and gaped at her as he sputtered out a reply. "W-what?"
Cassie smirked, crossing her arms over her chest while her friends snickered. "I said no."
"Why not?" He scowled.
"Leave me alone, Scott. I have exams." She dismissed him without another word, drinking her coffee while skimming through her notes.
Ava and Isla were amused as Scott scowls deepened and he stormed away, Cassie chuckling at his reaction, returning her attention away from his back and back to her books.
Finals week was so more important anyways.
It wasn't until Wednesday, a bright sunny day, when Valentina had called up Cassie and asked for a favour while Cassie was painting her nails when she should've been revising.
"Buenas días, Cassandra." Valentina chirped happily, Cassie couldn't help but smile at the sound of her voice.
"Hi Val. What's up?" She screwed the lid back on the bottle of varnish and placed it on her bedside table, blowing her nails dry softly.
"Nothing, I just have a favour to ask." Her voice quietened down, almost nervous and this piped Cassie's curiosity.
"What is it?"
"I have a competition and I have to compose a performance so dice I'm playing the piano, I was wondering maybe you could help a girl out and be my dancer. Scott told me you dance."
Cassie was quiet, pondering over her thoughts. She contemplated saying yes as it had been years since she's last danced in front of people. She missed it. The adrenaline. The sense of accomplishment. The happiness. That was probably why she said what she said.
"Okay."
Valentina squealed excitedly that it made Cassie hold the phone away form her ears so that the sound didn't burst her eardrums. Suddenly Valentina was rambling on in excitement, discussing the plans of the night and Cassie happily listened to her, every now and then adding her input, but it made her feel better.
It got her mind off him.
"Cassie."
She ignored it.
"Cassie."
Fumbling with her books, she pulled out her assignment.
"Cassie."
It was amusing and she had to fight back a smile.
