You did everything in your power to keep from getting noticed. Ever since grade school, you avoided doing anything that involved someone noticing you. To this day you still tried to avoid getting noticed. Something must have gone horribly wrong tonight.

"It's okay, babe. You got this," your boyfriend insists, squeezing your hand.

"But-"

He kisses your forehead and takes your face in his hands. "You are smart, charming, and handsome as hell. There is no possible way you could screw this up."

"What if-"

"You are not allowed to be nervous. I'm not letting you get yourself all worked up over this. You, (Y/N) (L/N), are going to go up there, talk about your amazing book, and not mess up at all, and you know it."

You smile and rest your forehead against his. "What would I ever do without you?"

He chuckles and gives you a quick kiss. "Go get 'em, tiger."

You take a deep breath and walk over to the podium in the center of the stage. Jonathan quickly rushes off to his seat. Once he sits down, he smiles and watches you as you talk about the last book in your series, which has been a bestseller since it came out. He has always loved to watch you talk about your books. Your eyes widen as you move your hands in front of you.

As soon as you finish your speech, you start accepting questions from the audience. Most are just about why you wrote a character a certain way or how you came up with a particular idea, questions you can easily blow off.

Jonathan was right; this isn't bad. Just one more question. You take a deep breath. "Thank you. Alright. I think we have time for one more question."

You bend down to grab the bottle of water next to your podium, so you don't see the man that immediately stands up.

"Hi, uh. My name's Jonathan. I've been a fan of your books since the beginning. I was wondering if I could ask you a more personal question."

You smile as soon as you hear his voice. "Go on."

He starts to walk up to the stage. "Ever since I met you in that Barnes & Noble almost ten years ago, I knew that I wanted to be with you no matter what. There has never been a moment when I questioned what our future would look like. I always knew that you would be right by my side." He stands in front of you and takes your hands in his. "(Y/N) (L/N), will you marry me?"

Your smile widens, and you nod frantically. "Yes!"

His smile matches yours as he sweeps you up in a hug. "I love you."

"I love you, too," you whisper before giving him a kiss.
