Gabe had scooped me up in his arms and rushed me to the pack house. My brothers and sister were there seconds later. Henry and his mate, Amanda, our pack's doctors, went straight to work.
"You can help her right?' Gabe shouted.
"Don't worry, we just have to make sure the bite isn't already infected." Henry replied quickly and swiftly as his hand filled the syringe with stuff that would drug me to sleep, my heart pounded worse now, oh God, I hated needles...
"Why do you have to drug her to sleep then?." Zeke ordered.
"Zeke, if we don't make sure her bones are sustainable, she might not be able to walk on that leg. Listen, everyone needs to be out." Amanda ordered.
I couldn't imagine my injuries were that severe... But I've been wrong before. Everyone obeyed for my sake except Gabe, "Gabe, she'll be alright." Amanda promised him before he left the room with a sad face and on the verge of tears, obviously holding them in.
I felt the unpleasant feeling of the needle striking my arm and inserting the drugs, then, as expected, my eyelids fell heavy and soon closed effortlessly.

Gabe's POV
I heard her scream from nearly a mile away and ran straight to her, no one was going to hurt Mackenzie, ever. I emerged from the tree line and I caught sight of her. Her face was so beaten down with tears that if she weren't my mate, I probably never wouldn've recognized her. I saw no danger, but I smelt a rat. In other words... a rogue.
I held her in my arms and wasted no time running back to the pack house where Amanda and Henry could help her. Her leg was dripping with blood, I stopped only a second to rip cloth from my white shirt and dab it lightly so she didn't bleed to death before I could get her to help. The run seemed long but I made it in no time at all, Zeke, Victoria, Chase and Dalton at my tail. I busted into the pack house.
"Amanda, Henry! She needs help!" I shouted at them.
"Put her on the table!" Henry ordered.
I set her down as they began to collect many tools, "You can help her right?" I shouted at them, fear itching at my heart and brain.
"Don't worry, we just have to make sure the bite isn't already infected." Henry replied.
"Why do you have to drug her to sleep then?." Zeke demanded.
"Zeke, if we don't make sure her bones are sustainable, she might not be able to walk on that leg. Listen, everyone needs to be out." Amanda ordered, her voice sounded fragile.
Sure, being Mackenzie's mate, I should've been the first one out, for her benifit, but no, I was the last one. Once everyone had disappeared outside, I stood still, not moving. I couldn't move, I couldn't leave her here. I needed to be by her side all the time through everything right?
"Gabe, she'll be alright." Amanda whispered in comfort to me, but it didn't work.
She nodded again and then I gave up, I slowly trudged outside as the door was closed and locked and a needle entered Mackenzie's arm. I stood outside the room the entire time they were working on her, a long and agonizing few hours. I sat in the chair that Victoria had pulled up for me. When Amanda walked out the door, I shot up and got in her face.
"So, she's alright, right?" I begged to know the answer that I wanted, yes, she is fine... but the world is a random place.
"Gabe, she is going to be fine. The bite was pretty deep. She could've been infected, but you got her here in time. You shouldn't be worried. Now all she needs to do is rest and wait for her healing to kick in." Amanda sighed, her eyes tired.
