When we were at the new pack house, we cut the red ribbon across the front doors. I always felt like that was a bit tacky, the ribbon cutting that is, but it was, traditional. Gabe's hand grasped my own and we held up our hands. The pack cheered.

"If the pack would please meet in the meeting room!" Gabe called.

I felt my heart rate pick up as we walked in the new building. It still smelt nice and clean. It was a little overwhelming to be in a new pack house--we'd been in the same one since before dad was alpha--but the modernness of it all was comforting. I was a sucker for modern buildings. Victoria preferred older styled buildings, ironically her favorite were from the Victorian age. We opened the large glass doors that were outlined with shiny white paint. The door handles where silver and cold against my palms. The closer we got to the end of the room, the more I wanted to turn back. The more I wasn't ready to tell the pack.

I tugged on Gabe's hand. He looked over at me.

"Gabe," I whispered shakily. "I'm not ready to do this." I whimpered.

He leaned down a little to talk quietly in my ear.

"Come on, Kenzie, we'll be fine." He assured.

I nervously shook my head okay. He squeezed my hand for comfort before we reached the window that served as a wall at the end. We turned around to face the members of the pack who had come.

"A lot of hard work was put into this building." Gabe started. "We expect it to stand for decades to come. Now, if you'll look around you," He paused while people looked around at the white walls. "...you'll see paintings of every recorded past alpha of the Celestial Pack."

I looked at the paintings. They were gorgeous, and they were painted more so they looked like photographs rather than paintings. My eyes stopped at the last two. Dad and Zeke. Tears watered in my eyes, threatening to tamper with my eye make-up. Gabe, once again, squeezed my hand gently.

"We thank Izzy for completing each of these." Gabe smiled.

The pack clapped their hands for Izzy, and I smiled at her.

"Now, we have more good news." Gabe projected his voice throughout the room nicely.

I was about ready to die of anxiety. I wouldn't look at Chase or Dalton. I couldn't let myself.

"Mackenzie, she is carrying the next alpha or alpha female." He grinned.

I kind of felt my knees buckle, and my free hand gripped the chair in front of me tightly. My eyes scanned the group. Most of the pack members seemed pleased, even Tori. I still wouldn't let myself look at my brothers, however, I did glance at Zeke's painting. I finally let a tear slide down my cheek. My ears seemed to let sound pass right through them as I couldn't hear anything except the pounding of my heart.

"Have a Merry Christmas, everyone." Gabe dismissed the pack.

It was only my sister and brothers, Carolina, Gabe, and myself. Tori walked up to Gabe and me.

"Congrats, Kenzie." She pulled me in for a hug, which only made me tense up more. "I gotta go get Sage to bed, or else she'll stay up all night. Love you, Merry Christmas." Victoria bid, sliding on her jacket and walking out of the room.
