Evangeline POV
She sat in the corner of her room on top of her bed.
Her huddled form crouched over a picture wearing the same clothing. Evangeline never changed her shirt, it belonged to him.
She would claim to those who asked that it was the only thing she had left and she wasn't letting go.
Evangeline kept the wedding dress she had bought though she would never be married, to the one who tried his hardest to understand Midgardan ways.
The one who left her, the one who she will never see again.
The one who died.
The thought and truth caused Evangeline's already frail state of mind to completely shatter.
Loki was gone. And he wasn't returning.
He had left to defend Asgard, a war had broke out amongst the realms, leaving Asgard open.
Loki claimed it will help restore what little faith people had in him, to show he changed.
None of that matters anymore.
A sob tore its way through Evangeline, shuddering her shoulders, shaking her small frame.
Tears raced down her face cutting trails.
Echos bounced off the walls of the empty dim lit house.
The smell of the wilted and rotting flowers was pungent throughout the home.
Those were the last gifts she received from him, along with a stuffed bear. The two out of character for Loki.
Hastily she wiped away her tears.
Evangeline sat rocking back and forth.
She got the news a month ago, the news that changed her.
Yet the pain was fresh every single day like a ripping, gaping wound.
Evangeline hated this feeling of utter helplessness, she should have convinced him not to go, she thought, she could have stoped him.
But she didn't.
She watched him leave, he kissed away her tears as he boarded the shuttle that would take him to Asgard.
She just watched him travel away from her she couldn't see him any more.
She just read the letters he sent to her, telling her news about Asgard and who won what battle.
She did nothing to save him.
Evangeline laid in her bed her knees to her chest.
She practically let him die.
