Chapter Fourteen

Evangeline woke with a start, her heart pounding in her chest, she could have sworn it was going to free itself from her ribcage.

She wiped the sweat away from her brow.

She took in a few heavy breaths before getting her thoughts in a manageable order.

Her dream was vivid and horrible.

Loki was her focus, he was there. He was being harshly punished, she could still hear the whip cracking over his skin.

Evangeline shuddered and rubbed the back of her neck. She felt a sharp sting.

She winced, and ran her fingers over her back. She widened her eyes when she felt a hot liquid cover them. She instantly pulled back her hand, blood coated her finger tips.

A shocked scream rose from her lips. Agony coursed through her veins.

Liquid fire.

Tears came to her eyes, the pain was horrid.

She screamed, she screamed for a long time until her voice cracked.

Thor busted into her room.

He picked up her hunched over form, her back was coated in the crimson liquid.

Evangeline cringed and flinched her body seemed to be lit on fire. Tears poured down her cheeks as she cried out.

Thor whispered softly to her as he rushed her to the infirmary.

However his voice was drowned out by her loud wails.

If the physical pain wasn't bad enough, the mental one must have.

Her Loki, he was still alive.

He was being tortured.

She could do nothing about it.

Here, she lay helpless in Thor's arms, bleeding and crying. Her fists were gripped tight to his shirt.

Her grey eyes were sealed shut as tight as they would go.

" He is alive. He is alive.. " She muttered through the sobs.
