Evangeline POV
As she and Thor entered the throne room she was brought to reality by seeing Loki's mother standing by his so called father, Odin.
Shock was etched in her features. This woman was to be dead. Loki- she remembered peering into his mind and felt the grief of losing her. She remembered the first time she had peered into Loki's mind his mother's death still fresh and agonising. She remembered the institution the met in. That seemed so long ago now.
Thor turned to her to her to explain.
"Frigga had not perished, a convoluted illusion really. Her soul was stolen, but it was recovered during one of the battles."
Evangeline nodded stiffly. Her eyebrows still pinched as she tried to think of how such a feat could have been preformed. Magic above and beyond her own ability.
"Lady Frigga, All Father Odin." Evangeline dipping her head slightly.
Odin acknowledged her presence with a slight upturn of his lips, to small to be a smile, it soon vanished.
Lady Frigga's face held a look of empathy, and sorrow. Loki was her son. Ripped away so soon after her return into the mortal realm.
She came down from the throne, to see Evangeline.Frigga stopped right in front of Evangeline, quickly embracing her. Taking her by surprise, but the hug was not unwelcome.
"I am terribly sorry we had to meet one another like this."
Evangeline felt to choked up to speak. A knot swelled in her throat, a pain was behind her eyes. More tears.
Soon Loki's mother pulled away. "Its time for the farewell ceremony. We must send his body and soul to Valhalla.
Evangeline followed Lady Frigga, she was lead out side. It was a beautiful day.
The sun shone, the birds flew and flowers bloomed. The garden was large, and apart of the palace.Evangeline was to miserable to really enjoy it. She saw the Green and gold casket. It's lid was propped open. A fresh wave of body numbing memories washed over her.
Evangeline saw him, his pale face seemed to be asleep. His emerald eyes were shut, his light pink lips were parted. He had no movement. Of course he would not move. The dead do not move. The dead do nothing but cause pain to the ones they left behind.
Evangeline choked down a sob. Tears found their way down her face.
Loki looked so peaceful, as if he was in a deep slumber. Evangeline walked closer, looking down on him.
She reached out shaky hand, pushing a stray hair from his face. Like she had done so many times before. He was so cold. With watery eyes, she placed a final goodbye kiss on his cold cheek.
Evangeline cried, she cried till she was numb. She cried silently, she was not the only one in pain.
The service was over soon. Loki's casket lid was soon closed. His face shut away from the world.
Her last glance at her first and last love. She would never here his voice, she never would see his sly smile. Never feel the touch of his gentle hands as they would caress her face.
No more.
He was gone.
She was all alone.
