Evangeline

Evangeline woke with tears in her eyes. She had remembered the first time Loki had kissed her and tried to take her on a Midgardin date.

It was sweet, his utter cluelessness, his trying his hardest.

It made her heart ache so bad, she was in so much pain.

She unfurled herself from the fetal position she had been sleeping in, to stand.

She walked to her dresser to stare at her reflection; the woman that stared back was foreign to her, deep sunken eyes with no sparkle, pale chalky skin, her hollow cheeks prominent, and her shaggy black hair was greasy and had no shine.

She had most definitely let herself go.

She looked over to left of the mirror, to see the calender a date circled in red.

Today was the day Thor would take her to Asgard for Loki's funeral.

Evangeline dreaded this day, it made her heart sink like lead to the pit of her stomach.

Loki had promised to take her to Asgard once he redeemed himself.

Taking in a shaky breath she looked into the mirror.

" Why did you have to leave me?"

Evangeline wore black, all black. Her long ebony hair was pinned from her face, making her seem more herself.

But she wasn't.

She was still broken.

Thor had flown her to Asgard; The trip making her nauseated.

The sight was amazing, the sheer size of this palace was amazing... the sights, the sounds, the music. She could now understand why Loki was so devastated when he had to leave.

"I  understand..." She mumbled to herself as she walked alongside Thor.

" You  understand what, lady Evangeline?" He asked his eyes still somber not quite showing much emotion.

" Why, Loki had to come back..." Evangeline spoke wiping her forehead.

" We still haven't won the war." Thor said finally.

She turned to face him. His blue eyes focused on the palace ahead of them.

" What do mean? I thought Loki died the day they were signing the treaty?" Her voice said heavily.

" They broke the treaty. They killed my brother, that's how he was killed."
