Nathan: Leaving Home.

"You ready to go back?" I asked Whitney.

It was five thirty, and we had been out here almost all day.

"Yeah, but can't you like call for a Hello-chopter or something? The walk back is torture." She said smiling.

"A Hello-chopter?" I asked, laughing.

"Oh. Sorry. That's what me and my dad used to call them. I meant helicopter."

"Well... I would call for a Hello-chopter, but then people would find out about my secret place, and that wouldn't be good."

"Hmmm... I guess not."

"Sorry." I smiled.

"Sorry just doesn't cut it." She said getting up and walking off into the woods, I followed. "Nope, I'm never going to forgive you." She said jokingly.

I laughed. "Uhm, Whitney?"

"Yeah?" She said, still walking.

"You're going the wrong way."

"What? No I'm not." She said, spinning around.

"Yeah... my house is that way." I pointed in the opposite direction.

She looked where I was pointing, and then at me. "Oh. Whoops." She said smiling as she shrugged her shoulders.

I laughed, she's so cute.

We finally made it home around seven; I was preparing myself to get chewed out by my parents. I had left a note, but they would be mad that I hadn't asked permission.

We walked in the back door, Brody and Amber were in the kitchen making dinner. "Dude, you're in for it." Brody said.

I shrugged, "I've kinda been expecting it, no biggie."

"I thought you said it would be alright if we went hiking?" Whitney asked.

"It is. They'll just be mad because I didn't let them know ahead of time." I said.

"Nathan, I don't want you to get in trouble because of me."

"I won't, and plus it was my idea, not yours."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, everything is fine."

"ok, I'm gonna go up and take a shower," She said, "Thanks for today.

"Whitney hugged me and ran up the stairs.

Seth came in, "Hey loverboy, How'd things go today?"

"Good. It was fun."

"Did you get her to kiss you?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"No." I punched his arm.

"Hey!" He cried, "You know I'm only kidding."

"Sure you are." Keah said coming into the room.

"I am!" Seth said.

Keah laughed, "I believe you."

"No, you don't." Seth pouted.

"Awh. Yes, I do." She leaned over and kissed him.

Seth smiled, "Works every time."

Keah playfully slapped his arm, and laughed.

"Why does everyone keep doing that?" Seth asked. He grabbed Keah's hand.

I think I'm going to be sick. I rolled my eyes.

"No need to be jealous, Nathan." Seth said, "Just because you don't have the guts to ask Whitney out, doesn't mean you have to take it out on us."

I glared at him.

Keah stepped away from Seth, and slapped him for real this time. "Seth!"

"What?" He asked her, innocently.

"How could you be so heartless?"

"Well it's true." Seth said, "If he would just ask her out then he'd stop nagging on us, even if she does want to turn him down."

I walked away, and headed for my room. I needed to write, write anything, as long as I had a pen in my hand and some paper in my lap.

I stormed into my room, I wasn't really that mad, because Seth was right, I didn't have the guts to ask Whitney out.

I had forgotten that my room was being occupied, by someone other than myself.

Whitney looked up from the dresser, shocked. Her hair was wet, and she only had a towel on.

"Oh, God." I said, my hand flying to my face, so I could cover my eyes, "I'm so sorry."

"It's alright." She said, "I guess it's my fault, I should have locked the door."

"No, it's my fault. I forgot you were in here, I should have knocked." I turned to leave, so much for venting.

"Wait." Whitney said before I shut the door.

"What?"

"Stay. Just give me a second to change."

My hand was still over my eyes, so I didn't see her go into the bathroom, but I heard the door close.

I peaked from under my hand, making sure she was actually in the bathroom, and it wasn't just the wind that had caught the door. She was. I walked over the sit on my bed, grabbing an acoustic guitar on the way.

I sat on the edge of my bed, strumming the chords to Lovebug.

Whitney came out five minutes later, her hair was pulled back, and she had on skinny jeans, and a light blue T-shirt. She sat down next to me, facing me, sitting Indian style.

"So what's up?" She asked after a while.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You don't look very happy."

"What about now?" I asked, putting a big, cheesy, fake grin on my face.

She laughed, "You're not fooling anyone."

I sighed.

"Seriously, though. What's wrong?"

"Seth said something sort of... harsh."

"You want me to go beat him up?" she offered. I couldn't tell if she was kidding or being serious. Either way I laughed, "No thanks."

"Suit yourself." She said and shrugged her shoulders.

"But he was right anyway."

"You mind me asking what he said?"

"I'd rather not talk about it, if that's alright."

"Hmmm... Do you like peanut M&M's?" She asked, randomly.

"What?" I asked, chuckling.

"You said you didn't want to talk about it, so we're not talking about it." She smiled.

"Oh. Right."

"So do you?"

"What?"

"Like Peanut M&M's?"

"Oh. Yeah, their ok I guess."

She smiled and sat there listening to me playing guitar.
