Hunter's POV
"Sir, they've breached our borders!"
"Oh, shut up! Don't you think I know that?" I growl at the idiot in front of me.
I knew they would come. It was just a matter of when. I guess they decided the sooner the better. At least I know she'll be with them. I can finally finish my mission.
"Sir, what should we do? They're nearing the castle." My eyes pierce into the fool in front of me. I feel my wolf rising with my anger.
"Go and fetch Garrett. I need a word with him." My anger dwindles. I need to save it for later.
The wolf before me nods and disappears down the corridor. After only a couple of minutes, as Garrett begins walking towards me, a hoard of scents infiltrates my senses.
"They're here," I don't realize I've spoken aloud until Garrett chimes in.
"She must be with them. How do you plan on ending her?" His voice holds amusement and his eyes shine with curiosity.
"Slowly-"
"Cage!"
My body stiffens as does Garrett's. His voice looms over us, haunts us, shakes us to the core. I clear my throat as I turn to face him.
"Yes, Alpha?" I make sure not to show too much confidence, and I keep my eyes lowered.
"Your mission has changed."
"Sir-"
"Your job is no longer to kill the girl-"
"But, Sir. She is a threat and always will be-" His deep growl resonated within me causing me to bite my tongue.
"Don't you dare interrupt me again! Understood?" I nod. "I don't care if she's a threat. She has power. And lots of it. Yes, she is still a threat, but one that can be used. We just need to play our cards right. So, whatever you do, don't kill her."
I watch as he turns to leave, "Yes, Alpha."
He stops mid-way and speaks threateningly in a low voice, "If you kill her, I will kill you. Do not test me, boy. You may be one of my best soldiers, but you're not irreplaceable."
I nod once more as he walks away. Once I know he's gone from listening distance, I turn to Gamma Garrett. "Don't kill her," I mock.
"You know you can't disobey the Alpha. Especially not him." Garrett says with a low voice, fearful Alpha may hear him still.
"Don't worry, I don't plan on disobeying anyone. Besides, even though I know he's making a mistake, he never said I couldn't harm her. He never said I couldn't almost kill her." A wicked grin plasters my face. I feel my wolf emerge, his desire for blood, her blood, pushes him forward. I use my strength and regain control of myself. My mind wanders back to the other problem at hand, "Garrett, I want you to take half the wolves and guard the back of the castle. I'll take the rest and maintain the front."
"Yes, Beta."
I link the 2 wolves guarding the witch and warlocks. "You can do what you wish with the son. But, don't kill him immediately. Slow and painful is the way to go. And, when the girl shows up, you do nothing to her. She's mine."
"Yes, Beta." They reply simultaneously.
With my mind back in place, I link the other wolves telling them to meet me in front of the castle. I make my way up onto the narrow path of the roof. It's time I greet our guests.
