A week has passed since I almost lost total control. I read through the journals I found, and really only found out about powers that black wolves were recorded to have and their enhanced senses, strength, and speed. I did, however, learn a bit more about coat colors and rarity, and how some furs allow for special gifts/abilities as well. The more rare, the more special, but that wasn't important right now.

I told Liam what his mom told me. How my uncle was most likely Hunter's new Alpha. But, that's all I told him. I didn't tell him about how the Cages helped the Moons or that our families were enemies at one point. Most of those secrets belonged to me.

Ravyn finally reached out to me after my 50th time calling out to her. I apologized and we made up. She offered to help me learn about my curse. She brought me books from her coven that contained information about curses, but none had the answer I was looking for.

As the days pass on I am growing more frustrated. I haven't found out how to control or stop this curse and I still haven't figured out who keeps calling out to me. Which reminds me, I've heard that voice in my head every day now for this past week and it's really starting to get on my nerves. And, we still haven't heard anything about Hunter. It's getting too quiet, and it's setting off my nerves.

Now, I'm sitting in the kitchen wondering what the hell I should do next. I feel stuck. Liam's working and I am getting nowhere with my 'research'. I feel my leg bouncing again and growl as I place my hand on my knee to stop it.

"You look like you could use a drink."

"Tell me about it," I say as I pull myself from my thoughts and see Liam's beta, Peter, and his gamma, Andrew walk into the kitchen. I study their faces. Peter is handsome enough. His brown eyes are soft and welcoming while Andrew's hazel eyes practically scream 'fight me'. Then it clicks. "I remember you two now. You two were always butting heads. Now look at you, having to work together must suck." I tease.

"What sucked was you stealing our best friend away all the time." Andrew retorts, coming closer to me and towering over me.

"Not my fault he liked me better than you... oh wait, he still does." I bite back. If I remember correctly, Andrew and I could banter like no one else. He backs up a notch and tries to come up with another retort.

"Well, at least I don't still look like a 12-year-old,"

"Funny, didn't I kick your ass when we were 12?"

"That was because I let you win."

"Doubtful. And even so, I can still kick your ass." I smirk.

"Oh, yea? We'll see about that. I challenge you to a duel." He says as he confidently runs a hand through his honey hair.

My smile grows big, "You're on. Pete, you're the ref." I haven't had a good fight in a while. And this will be a great way to get my nerves out.

"Wow. Didn't think you'd accept. But what should I have expected from a hot head like you? Are you sure you'll be ok? You haven't trained in a while and I am the Gamma of this pack." He taunts.

"Sounds to me like you're trying to back out of this. And for the record, just because I don't train with you... doesn't mean I don't train at all. You know, my pack didn't have a Gamma. We didn't need one because they had me."

"You've got quite the ego, Kiara." Amusement written all over his face.

"Not ego. Just confidence in my own ability." I defend with a smirk.

"Maybe we shouldn't do this. I mean Kiara, are you ok to do this? What if you lose control again?" Peter asks, his concern evident.

I look at him. Liam must have told them. "I promise I won't lose control. Besides, it's not like Drew is gonna win. And, I can take a hit. It won't set me off. I promise. Now come on. I've been cooped up way too long."
