The world turned upside down

Alexander looked around and then at me, he stood up shakily and then gave the watch to me quickly.
"Wait, so how do we get back? We need something from our time period or er my time period, right?" He asks still shook. I nod and go towards the box seeing the letters from before, I take the letters in hand then decide to have some fun. "Before we go back and may very well get killed, let's have some fun. I think you'd like this year well not alot but somewhat." I say taking his hand not minding if we were dressed like this I mean, this is New York, you see weirder things everyday! I put the letters on the table before stepping out into the cold snow filled streets. Alexander looks with amazement at the giant buildings and the crowds of people. I run over to a coffee shop still with his hand in mine, I order seasonal peppermint coffees and wait for them to finish. Meanwhile Alex stands next to me looking around and looking at the couples and teens sitting around. I take are drinks and we sit at a small table as I take a gulp of the hot liquid, I notice Alex looking at it nervously. "It's a little hot but just take a sip, I promise it's good" I say with a small smile. He takes a drink and looks happy continuing to look around and occasionally sipping his coffee. I smile happily knowing that I could go home at any time, I start thinking about how Alexander should be dead right now along with everyone else who I'd met over the last couple days. This thought makes me sad but I was glad I could give Alexander a second chance. I finish my coffee and wait for Alex to finish, once he was done I took his hand, not wanting for him to get lost, that's the only reason, definitely. I think of what we could do and see the skate rink, I carefully stepped into the line of people waiting and made sure to not loose Alexander. I waited until we got our skates and started to explain to Alex how to skate. He looked onto the ice and took his first step on, as he did this I zoomed onto the ice and did a swirl to show off. Alexander smirked at me and tried to go further only to fall, I quickly went to him trying not to laugh and helped him up taking one of his hands. "Do exactly what I do." I say to him as I start skating at a steady pace. He followed what I did as I lead sometimes quickening the pace and going in circles, we laughed and made fun of eachother talking about the war, our past, everything. I let go of Alexanders hand and go around the rink myself, after doing that for a while and watching Alex practice I stand near the edge of the ice and look at everyone happily. One thing I didn't see is a terrified smol Alexander coming towards me at Sonic speed. Before I knew it Alexander lay on top of me a blushing mess. "Oh um I- I'm sorry I was going so fast and I didn't know how to stop! Um h-here sorry." He says picking himself up then helping me up. "Yeah I guess I should have taught you that heh. Anyways I thinks that's enough skating for today, let's go somewhere else maybe to the park?" I ask trying to get my mind off of what just happened. Alex nods and we head off to the park after getting off the skates. We walk hand in hand to the park and sit down on a bench, it was getting late but it was nice to relax once in a while especially in the midst of one of the greatest wars of our nation. I lean back and look at the sky, the sky was pink and blue and looked like a watercolor canvas that held so much beauty. I look towards Alex as he smiles at kids in the distance playing on sleds and enjoying themselves. This was nice. It was one of the actual times I got to take in the sights of the city. I stood up stretching and then said "We should get back the guys are probably worried sick about where we are, oh I hope they haven't got in any trouble, they probably have." With that we start back for the house, once we get there I mentally say goodbye to 2017 and grab Alexander. "Ready?" I ask not even knowing if I was ready. He nods and I grab the letters being sucked into the blue light once again. We appear back in the old house and head back to the bar to find the three men lying their heads on the table and still managing to drink, god knows how. "You two were busy huh?" John asks smirking as I sit in between Laf and Herc "Yeah, where were you two mon ami?" Laf asks "We just went on a little adventure." I say stealing the drink that Herc had in front of him turning and talking to Laf. "So, how was it, what happened" Herc asked Alex smirking. Alexander thought over what to say and thought about all that happened until he said,
"The world turned upside down."
