AFTER A FULL DAY OF classes and dinner, Draco made his way towards the owlery to send his mother a letter about the Yule Ball. He simply requested for her to buy him dress robes, and also informed her that he is doing well with his classes. There was no way that he was going to get the best robes in Hogsmeade, and his mother had finer taste anyways.

Draco climbed up the stairs of West Tower, until he reached the very top. The room was very cold and drafty, making the boy shiver. He climbed his way over the piles of straw and owl droppings, grimacing. He hated going to the owlery, it was absolutely disgusting and smelled horrid, two things a Malfoy doesn't want to get mixed up in.

Finally, Draco found his owl sitting on one of the lower perches. He owned an Eagle Owl, a rather large owl with bright orange eyes. To Draco, it always looked angry. The blonde boy deeply regrets naming this intimidating-looking owl 'Buba' when he was eleven.

The owl made a sound as if recognizing its owner, as he approached with a letter in hand. Draco took out an Eeylops Premium Owl Treat from his robe pocket, and fed it to the bird.

"Deliver this to mother, Buba." Draco gave the owl his letter, and the owl screeched before taking it in its mouth. The blonde watched it disappear into the distance, flying away.

He turned around, and once again climbed over the straw and owl droppings, of course trying to not step in any. Draco groaned when he realized it started snowing again, and wished he wore a thicker robe for this short trip to the owlery. Luckily, it didn't take long until Draco was back inside the castle's warmer walls. The boy brushed his fingers in his blonde hair full of snow, before walking back to the Slytherin common room where he came from.

Draco arrived at the stone wall in the dungeons and uttered the password. "Peppermint Toads."

A stone door appeared and the Slytherin marched into the Common Room to find his friends Nott and Zabini playing Wizard's Chess. The two sat in the left corner at a small table that held the chess board atop. Nott looked excited, while Zabini looked quite bored. Draco sat in a black, leather lounge chair beside them.

"Hey Malfoy- Oh! Knight to F5!" Nott jumped from his chair and gasped, forgetting the blonde just arrived.

"Oh great. Another loss for me." Zabini rolled his eyes. "I was definitely trying to win..."

"Come on. Can you try next game, please?" Nott complained. "Winning against you is too easy, you don't even try!"

"I don't really care about Wizard's Chess." The dark skinned boy shrugged. "Play against Crabbe or Goyle- oh, hello Malfoy. Look, Nott, you have a new Wizard's Chess partner already."

"Yes! Malfoy, let's play!" Nott gushed like an eight year old with a new toy.

"I am not in the mood to play any games." Draco scoffed, sitting back in his chair. "You two play on. It's hilarious."

"It gets boring when one person is winning every game..." Nott huffed. "Come on, Malfoy. Scared to lose?"

The blonde boy sneered. "I'm not scared to lose."

"Prove it, then." The Nott boy smirked, knowing exactly what to say to get what he wanted.

Draco sighed, and checked his pocket watch. It wasn't late at all, and he was bored after all. Maybe a few games of Wizard's Chess wouldn't hurt. Only thing to hate is how competitive Theodore Nott can be. Luckily, so was Draco- if not more.

Draco switched seats with the uninterested Zabini, who chose to get out a textbook and start studying some subject Draco didn't really care to know. Theodore already had the board set up, with the white chess pieces on Draco's side. The blonde boy had learned early in his years at Hogwarts that the Nott boy always wanted to go second in any game. It was a weird habit of his, and Draco didn't really like it.
