Dean's P.O.V

What just happened?

That's all I thought as I put away the medical kit.

I looked in the bathroom mirror and tried to calm the redness in my cheeks.

Once I processed the entire scenario I slapped my forehead and groaned.

"Idiot....."

All I could see was Ember's face, her bright violet eyes, her blue curls, her soft lips...

"UGH! STOP" I shouted as I dropped my hands to the sink.

Then I felt a chip on the sink.

I looked down and moved my hand.

It was then I saw a huge dent in the sink along with some cracks. "How did this get here" I asked.

Then I thought back on how Ember punched the sink "No way, it couldn't have been her. She would need like super strength to do that." I reassured myself.

Finally I walked out of the bathroom and went to the living room where Briggs and the rest should be.

I walked into the living room seeing everyone except Ember sat on the couch.

Of course Ember was leaning on the wall, when I walked in she turned to look at me then looked back straight ahead.

No reaction.

I read nothing on her, she was acting as if nothing had even happened.

I brushed it off then went to go sit on the couch.

"Okay so how was school kids" Briggs asked raising an eyebrow.

"Fine dad" Michael mocked.

"Alright so spill Briggs are you finally going to tell us why we moved all over here for a case, or is this meeting going to be another waste of time." Lia said finally looking up from her phone.

Briggs rolled his eyes and opened his suitcase.

He laid down photos.

Photos of people.

All of them dead.

There were 2 girls and 1 guy, "these are homicides that have occurred in this area in the past month" Briggs said causing all of us to look up from the pictures.

"In the past month" Cassie gasped.

"Yes, police still haven't detected an M.O." Briggs said.

"Wait so there's a serial killer running around in this town and your sending us to school?" Michael questioned.

"Yeah why is that?" Lia asked.

"Don't you all see?" Ember finally spoke up.

She approached the pictures "There all high schoolers" Ember said not making eye contact with anyone.

"Is that true" I asked.

Briggs nodded then stuck a post it note on each picture.

All of them had something written.

Briggs pointed to the first picture "Wendy, a freshman who attended Winchester High"

Then he pointed to the other girl "Sarah, a freshman who attended Loreley highschool."

Finally he pointed to the picture of the guy "Jason, a sophomore who attended Richmond academy"

I examined the pictures trying to look for a pattern. The only thing that stood out was they all went to high school, high schools not far from the one we're attending right now.

"Any suspects" Ember asked with her arms crossed.

"And that is exactly why you are attending this school" Briggs began "these students attended schools in a close proximity of the school you are attending"

"Also let's face it, teens these days always know something us professionals don't, so make some friends ask around a bit" Briggs said.

"You flew six teens from Ontario to Chicago to make friends and ask whodunit" Ember mocked, finally making eye contact with Briggs.

"Got a better one" Briggs said.

"Yeah, get your head out of your ass and start background checks on people who aren't on the team" Ember said while she walked out of the room.

The entire room was silent, finally Briggs shifted a bit.

"Have a good night" he said, and with that he left.

We all sat stunned at Embers words.

He did a background check on her, maybe that's what was in the file.

"We need to get our hands on that file" Lia said, as if she had read my mind.

"Don't you think that's a little invading of her privacy?" Cassie said.

Lia rolled her eyes, "look that girl is hiding stuff, and we deserve to know what. I mean we're living with her for God's sake!" Lia argued.

"It wouldn't hurt to know just a bit about her" I said.

"Dean" cassie barked giving me a glare.

"Look for once I agree with ranger rick" Michael said.

"Michael" Cassie barked, also sending him a glare.

Then cassie sighed placing her head in her hands.

"Look even if I did agree to this, which I'm not, how would we do it" Cassie asked.

"Simple really, we wait until Briggs comes over for another meeting then we plant a distraction and snatch it from him" Lia said.

"I don't know guys.." Cassie trailed off.

"Look Cassie you said it yourself. Can we really trust her if we know nothing about her?" Michael said.

Cassie sighed "Ok I'm in" she agreed.

We all stayed in the living room going over our plan, it was pretty simple.

All we had to do was wait for Briggs.
