Cassie's P.O.V

The next day we all woke up and got ready for school with the clothes Ember had picked out.

We all were downstairs waiting for Ember "hurry up Ember, were gonna be late" Lia yelled.

"Wait, look at this" Michael said.

We all turned to see him pulling off a sticky note from the cabinet.

"Went early, c u at school" Michael read.

"Well, ok, let's go" I said as Michael tossed the note into the trash.

We all hopped into Michael's car and arrived to school.

"Hey guys" I heard a familiar voice yell.

I turned my head to the voice and saw it was Fernanda in the entrance along with Josh.

We all waved back as we walked closer to them.

"Where's Ember" Fernanda asked us.

"That seems to be the question of the day" Sloane said.

"She left a note saying she left early" Michael explained.

"Well let's go inside, I need a coffee" Lia said taking Josh's arm and dragging him with her.

"Hey so what happened to Ember yesterday" Josh asked clearing his throat from nerves.

We all did a quick private glance, "um, she got really tired and didn't want to bother us." I quickly lied.

"Oh, well its no bother." Josh said beaming a smile.

"Hey guys" I heard a voice say as arms wrapped around us.

I turned to see it was Chris.

"Chris? You go here" I asked.

"Sadly, yes. But don't worry you won't see him much since Chris here is a senior." Fernanda said.

"Ouch, early with the roasts this day aren't we madame" Chris said in a British accent.

We all laughed.

Then as the laughter slowly died I heard loud thumps, as if someone was punching something.

"Do you guys hear that" I asked.

Then everyone turned completely quiet and the thumps turned louder.

"It sounds like it's coming from the training room, no one is ever there this early, all the athletes usually go after school" Chris said as he began to walk closer to the sound.

We were faced with two sets of doors, one was labeled training room.

The other was labeled observatory.

Chris walked into the observatory and we all followed.

Once in, I saw it was a room with a big glass wall showing into the training room.

"This room is for coaches to usually watch there players train or to look for some new ones." Chris explained.

Once again the thumps were heard, we looked over to the sound and saw none other than Ember.

She had on a black sports bra, black yoga tights, and boxer braids. She was covered in sweat as she repeatedly punched a silver punching bag.

Her fists moved quick as she punched the silver bag, then in the middle of her punches she did a spin kick

"Holy shit" Josh said.

After about five more minutes she picked up a towel and water bottle she had on the floor.

She took a few sips from the bottle.

Then she whipped the red towel she had in her hand onto the ground.

That moment I saw pure anger flicker in her eyes as the rest of her face stayed pure stone.

Honestly right now she terrified me.

"She would definitely be known as the girl you really would not want to piss off." Lia said.

"Did I make the cut" Ember asked as she tightened her black fingerless gloves.

We all froze finally Chris cleared his throat, "she was probably just talking to herself" Chris said.

"Or maybe, and this is just a theory. You accidentally turned on the mic when you were watching me, causing me to hear your voices and know you guys are still there sitting in utter shock and embarrassment, but hey then again it's just a theory."

We all sat frozen as Ember exited the room with her bag swung on her shoulder.

"Stupid" Fernanda said as she slapped the back of Chris's head.

Chris's face was bright red as he flipped a switch.

He gulped nervously then looked down at his watch, "well class is starting soon, soooooo" then he bolted out of the room.

I rolled my eyes and exited with the rest.

We all went our own separate ways for class.

As I walked through the halls I saw posters hung on the walls, I walked closer to one.

"Auditions for 'nightmare before a corpse bride' held in the theater this Friday. Come join us" I read aloud.

I shrugged then began to walk to class again.

Once in class I heard all of the other students rambling on to each other.

I looked over to the girl who was sat behind me, she had long fawn hair and glasses.

"What's everyone talking about" I asked the girl.

She looked up from her book with a shocked expression, then she quickly recomposed herself.

"Um, they're talking about the party Jake's having at his place tonight." The girl began "his parents are out of town and he has the key to his dad's liquor cabinet."

"Huh" I said.

"Yup, Jake's parents are loaded so whenever they leave the mansion everyone is always welcomed to the rich boys house." The girl added.

"Are you going" I asked.

Her eyes went wide " I-I- I don't know, I wasn't planning to go" the girl stuttered.

"Hmm, I'm Cassie what's your name" I asked the girl.

"Caroline" the girl responded.

"Well Caroline, see you at the party tonight" I said, then quickly turned back around as the teacher walked in.

But not before I saw Caroline flash a smile.
