"Room 127" I said looking at the door, Dean reached for the door handle and opened the door "after you" he said gesturing me to go first.

"Thanks" I said to Dean as I walked into the classroom. The room was dimly lit, the desks were lined up in small neat rows, and the students were looking right at the door to see who had walked in.

I didn't notice that I was still glued to the same spot since I walked in, until Dean bumped into me trying to get in the classroom.

"You're late" the teacher snapped.

"We're new" I said snapping back into reality, masking my fear behind new found confidence.

"Names" the teacher said, "Dean" Dean said from behind me.

"Ember" I said.

The teacher looked back at her clipboard. "Ember you sit here, behind Orla" she pointed to an empty desk on the right side behind a girl with orange hair and pale skin, she was also covered in freckles.

"Dean you sit behind Ember" the teacher said.

We quickly took our seats. I could tell Dean was thankful he was sitting behind me and not some random stranger.

"Well as I was saying, my name is Miss.Anastasia, and welcome to English" Miss.Anastasia said, then she began to go through the class guidelines.

"Now, everyone pick a partner for this next activity" as everyone scrambled to sit next to there friends I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned and saw Dean "partners?" He asked.

"Sure, but we're going to have to meet new people sooner or later" I said. He nodded.

"Okay, so since we will be going into our poetry unit first this activity will be writing a poem based on your partner" Miss.Anastasia explained as some students began to grown.

"Alright get out your IPads and start typing" she said before sitting back at her desk.

"Ember, I apologize in advance if this sucks." Dean said. I looked back at him and stared into his sparkling blue eyes, "I'm sure it'll be great" I said looking back at my IPad beginning to type the poem.

After about ten minutes Miss.Anastasia stood back up from her desk, "alright class times up" she said. "Everyone back to your seats so we can see what you came up with"

Miss.Anastasia called on a few pairs to present first and some were good, but she didn't look fully impressed.

"Dean and Ember please present your poems" Miss. Anastasia said.

Dean and I both airplayed our poems onto the board. First Dean stood and read his poem.

Eyes of wonder
Smile of mischief
Ears of curiosity

She may look like a mystery or secret
you don't have to be a genius to see the uniqueness
but she is still just a girl
A girl who wants to live
A girl who wants to love
A girl named Ember

Dean's eyes lifted from the board onto me, I sat there with wide eyes as he sat down with a small and shy smile curved onto his face.

"That was beautiful Dean" Miss. Anastasia said. "Ember your turn"

I stood and began to present my poem.

Basic all around American boy
Is the complete opposite of he
Although he can annoy
He can also fill any room with glee

Wise as a king
Strong as a bull
Bright as spring

He's not perfect
Far from preen
Completely wrecked
His name is Dean

I finished my poem and looked back up at the many faces, all filled with awe including Miss. Anastasia.

I looked back at Dean and he shined his bright teeth with his full smile, a blush spread across his cheeks.

"Ember that was very nice, I haven't heard poetry that well written since.." she faded the end of her sentence.

She looked back at her clipboard and let out a small shaky breath.

I know

Miss. Anastasia looked back up from her clipboard as the bell rang, everyone scrambled to get there stuff and leave.
