When Lecter arrived home later that night after returning to his office he was welcomed with a sight that furthered his sadness for the female. Elia had found her way into the kitchen, once there she gather the knives and waited, for what he suspected himself but she showed little violent behaviour towards him. Perhaps someone unaccounted for in the room she had found.
Elia now was laying in a pile of herself clutching a large knife to her chest. However the way she held it seemed off. Both palms were pressed together like she were praying but the blade of the knife rested between her hands.
"Oh Ellie." he whispered gently picking her up from the cold floor. Her body seemed almost fragile in his arms. With a swift movement he removed the weapon and placed it upon the counter. Hannibal could clean up the mess later. There was no rush or worry on what she had removed.
Her eyelid twitched for a moment before opening. A gasp escaped her lips as Elia's body tensed every muscle constricting in fear. The female's eyes full of a strange mix of emotions that were attempting to sort everything out so rapidly it looked as though he had stabbed her.
"There is no need to worry Ellie." Her lips trembled for a moment.
"A-Are you the reaper?" He smiled a bit as he placed her upon the couch.
"No, I am no such monster." She flinched as he ran a finger over her cheek. "Are you hungry? I could make you something to eat."
"No...I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" She bit her lip looking to the side letting thoughts race through her. Lecter was happy to see some form of progress. Since she had been found Elia didn't dare to speak in fact Will believed she might have been a mute.
"Just some toast please...." her voice was timid and shook like someone consumed by cold.
"Alright, I'll be right back Ellie." Before she could respond or even think of doing so he had left her there.
Silence sunk in.
Elia stood slowly and moved through the room taking in what she could about the house. Most of the drugs had cleared out of her system so this was the first time it wasn't a blurred mess.
Running her fingers over the smooth surface of the walls panic came over her. The room felt as though it were moving inward about to compact her into nothing. Elia screamed backing in a book shelf causing it to come crashing down, however nothing touched her. when the female's eyes moved in the direction of the shelf Hannibal stood there. He had pushed the shelf so the books would fall to the left of her. In his hand he held a small plate.
"You should be more careful." He took her hand in his. Elia shivered as Lecter slid the plate into her hands with ease. Upon the ceramic rested two pieces of toast and some strawberry jam spread over the top.
The dark red substance looked like blood. Her gut wrenched coming back to the closet. The mess of the rotting men she shared the space with invaded her mind making the room spin for a moment.
"Ellie?"
"I-I'm fine." she whimpered before quickly taking a bite of toast. The sweetness of the surgery condiment made her smile. How long had it been since she last had something sweet? She couldn't even recall.
Hannibal smiled running his fingers through her hair then turned his attention to the fallen books. Starting to place them back in their place where they belonged. "Ellie, perhaps tomorrow I could take you to get some new things for your room."
"Why does it matter?"
"Because I want you to be comfortable in your home."
"Home?" Hannibal didn't turn to look at her. He just focused on the task at hand.
"Yes, I hope you would consider this to be your home but if not I can try to find somewhere where you might feel as such."
"No..." she fell silent for a moment. "Tomorrow will be fine."
The Good Doctor smiled as he placed the last book upon the shelf.
