Elia closed her eyes curling up on the couch falling further into herself. "Are you ready to begin?" The Good Doctor asked. She responded with a nod. In haling deeply before starting her little story.

Elia was about seven at this point. She should have been in school running around with other children her age, laughing, and enjoying life but here she was. Standing in some alley waiting with her 'uncle' waiting for someone to come along. "Are you ready sweety?"
She nodded sitting down upon the ground as a car pulled up. Another man stepped out shaking hands with her uncle. "I'm so glad you could make it!" he said in a rather cheery voice. "This is my niece, but don't worry about her." The man was about to comment but was quickly pulled in through a door leaving Elia alone with the driver of the car. She glanced up but whenever he made eye contact she quickly looked back to the ground. Starting to fidget a bit.
"Elia! Sweety come help uncle" he called form within the hallow building. She obeyed his command getting up quickly and entered the darkness within.
She was met with a strange picture. Her uncle had bound the man with wire that was slowly cutting into his flesh and shoved a rock into his mouth before sealing it there with tape. He looked frightened and confused. She looked from him to her uncle with a look of sympathy. The child knew that was to follow. This wasn't the first time this had happened but this was the first time he seemed to want to involve her with his ritual.
Her uncle was a rather handsome looking man. In his mid-twenties. Short brown hair and deep brown eyes that sometimes looked black and hallow.
"Sweety" he sounded annoyed and firm with what he was expecting. Elia shivered reaching out picking up a brick. Glancing to him once again he gave a nod. The man struggled against his bounds making thin lines of blood slide down his wrists.
She raised it above her head. Every limb shaking as it tried to gather all the strength she could make. Looking into the man's fear filled eyes. Tears started to form within the child's eyes. "I...." She dropped the brick stepping back. "I can't!" she started to break down into tears. She was waiting for him to begin scolding her for her failure to do as he wished.
Her Uncle stood up grabbing a rusted chunk of metal. Elia looked hearing the sudden shuffling of movement only to catch the next act.
He brought it down upon the man's head with such force bone shards and blood rained down upon her.
Elia covered her eyes listening to the cracking sounds turn into something more grotesque. Bile soured her tongue as the room started to spin. When he finally finished his assault upon the other male her uncle looked to her. Gripping the metal so tightly that his knuckles turned white.
He knelt down beside her dropping his weapon. She flinched from the sharp sound that rang out. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead. "That's my angel." he said approvingly. "You really are the one I've been looking for."
Another test. One of many he had, had her preform to prove some twisted belief he had for her. "Come now we have arrangements to make for you." She nodded letting him pick her up form the ground.

Lecter sighed leaning back in his chair. "Ellie...."
"I'm just...." she whimpered covering her ears.
"It wasn't your fault."
"No! I CAN STILL SEE HIM LOOKING AT ME WITH THOSE EYES! BEGGING ME TO SAVE HIM!!!"
The Good Doctor stood going over to her. "Ellie please"
"WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO!? HE WOULD HAVE KILLED ME TOO!" Elia started to claw at her arms trying to free herself from a sudden tightness like her skin was all too small for her body. Lecter grabbed her wrists causing her to pull against him violently. He brought his arms around her in a tight embrace trying to calm her.
She pushed him away but he only came back holding her tightly to his chest letting her cry and let the pain out. "Why....can't I undo all of this?"
"Because....some of us must face challenges others cannot so we can become stronger and survive." He gently brushed her hair out of her face looking down at her. Seeming more like a father than her doctor in this moment.
"How can I be normal when I'm different from everyone else?" her words sound almost like she was begging him to change who she was, but he saw no such need with her.
"Ellie, you are different just like everyone else-"
She quickly added "But I'm defective! I've been with a killer all my life!"
"And yet I see no reason to fix these problems." he said calmly. "You are perfect in who you are and even though there is this darkness it is not anything you wish to put upon others. There is light encasing it. This darkness isn't you...it is your uncle's"
"I've turned into a monster...."
"No Ellie, you just grew up with one by your side."
