School was a different monster. For some it could easily be pushed away and silenced, for others it was a cruel thing that beats prey into submission, but for Elia it was something that wanted to borrow within her and find all the little dark secrets she was desperately trying to hide. Some of the students already knew a bit about her from the news and internet but there was still so little there that rumors had more than enough room to grow.
Just standing outside of the building made her feel like a panic attack might erupt within seconds. Lecter placed and hand upon her shoulder and flashed the girl a bit of a smile. Trying to ease her into this, the first few times he had brought up the idea of schooling she shut down completely. To the point that he thought he might have to start all over on her treatment and care. However after a few more conversations she finally agreed to going. Even with the agreement she still was regretting coming.
"Well Ellie lets go" He said putting a slight pressure upon her should to encourage her to move. When she did Elia regretted it further. Some students were gathered near the office talking and laughing, but once they saw the two the loud chatter turned to low whispers. Elia's stomach turned, maybe it wasn't too late to back down from this whole thing.
Nothing felt right in this place, she could feel eyes taking her in and sizing up her strengths to their own. Once word got out about who she was Elia was sure things were only going to get worse. It wasn't that she was scared about not making friends (she had little want or need for such a thing) but rather the fact that questions tend to follow curiosity. Question she had no desire to answer.
For the most part Elia was asked to sign a few papers and that was the end of it, but as she turned away she noticed something. Lecter had put he was her father rather than her guardian. She felt the tug of a smile to her lips but suppressed it.
Before the Good Doctor left he gave Elia a small smile to hopefully calm her. Days like this nothing really could bring peace to her distressed self. Then he was gone.
Elia looked to the endless hallway noticing the way everyone watched her. This was going to be a true hell, and little did she know this was to bring her closer to something she had forgotten she could do.
