The next day, I came to school a little later than usual. "Hey!" Someone shoved me from behind and I fell to the ground, my books and papers scattering everywhere. "Whoops. Sorry. Just slipped." The mean girls said, giggling before walking off.
I frowned before picking up my stuff. I'm not gonna do anything about it because I'm sure, or hoping, they'll change later. Once I had picked up my stuff, I walked to class. When I opened the doors, I found Mahiru and Sakuya on the floor.
Mahiru was sitting on Sakuya's back while bending his legs back. "Why'd you scare me like that, Sakuya?" Mahiru asked, frowning.
"It was a joke! You seemed so serious, I thought I'd play along and make something up! Ahh!" Mahiru frowned while bending his legs back even more, making Sakuya tap out.
"Am I interrupting something?" I asked. "Huh? Oh, hey, Eiko. Nice to see you." Koyuki greeted. "Hi." I greeted back. "Eiko, tell them! You saw it! A street performer came out and bit Ryusei's neck!" Mahiru said. "Uh, Mahiru. It's best if we talk about this later." I whispered to him.
After school, I walked home with Mahiru. "I just don't get what's going on, Eiko. They're acting like yesterday never happened. You believe me, don't you, Eiko?" He asked. "Of course I do. You told me to run." I reminded.
"So, I was right! But-!" He paused when something was moving around in his bag. Mahiru opened his bag while his cat jumped on his shoulder. "You decided to keep the cat after all, huh?" I said.
"Not like I had a choice. Hey, how did this thing get in here?" He said as he took out a doll. "When did you get yourself a doll?" I asked. "I didn't." Mahiru said, bluntly. I raised a brow at him as he started talking to it.
"Mahiru, people are starting to stare." I mentioned. "It's because of this stupid thing!" He said, referring to the doll. "If you're not going to keep it, can I have it?" I asked. "Sure, knock yourself out." Mahiru tossed the doll over to me, in which I caught it with both hands.
I looked at him as he started walking away, then looked at the doll in my hands. "Let's go home." I said to it before walking to my house.
Once I got home, I went to my room, closed the door, then set the pink doll on my bed. "I wonder what I should name you?" I said. "You can just call me Belkia or Beru." The doll spoke.
"Oh, wow. A talking doll. It's been a while since I've had one of those. I think I stopped collecting those when I turned eleven." I said, emotionlessly. "You're not scared, little girl?" The doll said.
"No, not really. I mean, this isn't the first time I've seen something strange before. Then again, with you talking, that's gonna be a problem." I mentioned. "Ugh... You sound just like Otogiri." The doll said. "Who's Otogiri?" I asked.
"Just another subclass of Tsubaki's." He answered. "Tsubaki?" I repeated. "It's a long story." He said.
"Care to tell me about it?"
"Nah, too tired."
"You're pretty lazy for a doll."
I blinked as I remembered he called himself a vampire after attacking Ryusei. "So, is it true you're a vampire, Mr. Doll?" I asked.
"Hey, my name's Belkia, kid! Get it right!" He snapped. "Belkia? That name sounds funny." I commented, my voice emotionless. "Anyway, could you give me a little bit of blood? I'm so very hungry." He whined.
"Not until you've answered my question. Only then will I allow you to have a taste of my blood."
"Oh, come on! Don't be such a jerk about it!"
"Last chance. Answer my question: Are you a vampire? Yes or no?"
"It should be obvious!"
"But how do I know you're not just lying to me?"
"You damn kid! I hope Tsubaki murders you soon!"
"Even if I saw him in real life, I doubt I'll be afraid to him."
"Don't ever underestimate Tsubaki! He'll take you down, stupid girl!"
I rolled my eyes. "I think I see why Mahiru gave you up. You're a loud doll." I mentioned.
I looked towards my door as I heard a knock at my door. "Hey, Eiko. You okay in there?" My brother asked from the other side of the door. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just talking to my new friend." I said. "New friend?" He repeated.
"Yeah, it's just a doll I picked up on the way home." I said. "Hmm... Okay. Dinner's gonna be ready in ten minutes. Make sure you wash up." He reminded me. "Okay." I replied. Once I knew he was gone, I turned my attention back to the Belkia.
"Would you still like to have a taste of my blood, Vampire Doll?" I asked him. "Really? You would actually let me drink your blood?" He said, excitedly. "Of course." I said, picking him up in my hands. "You're so nice! I can't help but hug you!" Belkia cheered as he hugged my neck with his tiny doll arms.
I sighed. "Loud to caring in a hot second." I mumbled. "What, am I not allowed to hug you?" He said. "I never said that. I was just surprised how quickly your mood changed. If you're gonna drink my blood, hurry it up. My brother's gonna wonder where I am in the next seven minutes." I said, bluntly. "Okay, okay!" He said. Still in doll form, he bit my neck and tasted my blood.
Belkia's POV
Mm... Her blood taste so delicious. I could just stay with her forever. Wait, what is this feeling? It's weird and cold... Her blood... it's something else. No... this girl is something else.
