A Bloody Melody
Before
There was a time, not too long ago, when the world was perfect. People didn't fear the unknown, they relished in it. They could swim in the oceans and walk the mountains. Food was a plenty and water was a last resort. We thrived on success and built pathways on failure. Everyone was happy. Then the world turned on us.
The universe looked down upon humankind one day and saw their plant. In disdain, they looked on thinking,'What have they done? We give them life and they repay their home by destroying it.' They saw how it looked pretty on the outside and yet, was dead inside. That we destroyed forests to make way for parking, how we dumped our trash, never thinking of the consequences for the Earth.
For our ignorance, we must be punished.
No one was prepared for what came next; the disaster and panic as we realized what was happening. I was told that it was horrific. That everything switched with the flick of a button. One morning everything appeared normal but by night, it was post apocalyptic.
It started with the plants. One day an American research group, called the A.G.A, were gathering samples from the plants grown in America when they discovered something wrong, the wildlife seemed to be less fruitful. They took some specimens back to their lab to test and the results were shocking, the plants seemed to show signs of deterioration in there nutrition’s.
They were dying.
Next it was the soil. Anything we tried to grow simply died, like it had been poisoned. Then the water started to disappear. Evaporate up into the heavens and never come back down. Then fuel became scarce, as did any natural resource. By the end of the day people were frantic. No one could understand how all of this was happening.
How could everything simply disappear overnight?
The news that this was happening all over the world soon spread and it sent a wave of panic through the population of earth. Countries started to fight for the best land and the last of the food and water; war broke out all over the world.
Families were left homeless and governments were too focused on getting the best of the resources that the earth had left to notice. The war only worsened as the years went by and soon people were starving to death because they couldn’t afford to buy food. Businesses were failing because people were too concerned about their families to work. It wasn't long before people in the same governments were turning against each other.
The time the Earth had left rapidly declined in the fifteen years that the war continued on for and after all the destruction and death the estimate for how long the natural resources would last was forty-three years. Unfortunately for the human race, it was worse than in the beginning. The world was in ruins, houses and countries destroyed, unions who were once allies turned against each other, and the remains of the war left to crumble in streets that young children lived in.
In 2255 after what seemed like a lifetime of war and destruction, the A.G.A, who was now under the American embassy, were collecting more rock samples from the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. They had been trying to find ways to slow down the process the world was going through, but so far had no luck.
The head of their research group, the young Annaliese Deacon, had become desperate. She'd been working for years on this and still, she couldn't seem to come up with a solution. She was gathering specimens when her and her team stumbled upon a big bright ball of purple light. They were shocked to say the least so she called the embassy straight away. She thought that it was some sort of aftermath from all the chemical bombings that had gone on around this area and that it could explode (or implode) at any moment. They quickly packed up all their gear and got the hell out of there.
