A Bloody Melody
Chapter Six
I was in a magical place. I don’t know how or where but when I opened my eyes it looked like the sky, how it used to be on earth, with fluffy white clouds and a beaming yellow sun. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to see Kate, she smiled at me and I flung my arms around her. When I tried to talk though, no sound came out. In fact it felt as though I was getting no oxygen at all.
My hands reached up to my throat and I gestured wildly to Kate but she just stood there, smiling. Figures started to appear out of the clouds behind her and I saw people from my school, Jenna and Ashley, faceless soldiers and six people I recognised immediately. I ran over to each of them, trying to get them to help but they all did what Kate did and stood there, smiling.
I felt my lungs burning evermore with the need for oxygen but no matter how much I gasped, it never came. Just as I thought I was going to die my feet started to sink through the clouds, but I was stuck. I couldn’t move. I fell through and everything went black. I couldn’t see, I couldn’t hear. It felt as though I would never stop falling, that is until my body suffered the shock of being hit by a ten ton truck. Or what felt like one.
I jerked back in to reality, taking in deep breaths. My eyes were wide open, staring at the faces looking down at me. Everything was blurred and I couldn’t make out the features of the people leaning over me. I could hear them shouting something but I was too disorientated to listen. Panic made its way through my veins and I struggled to move, where was I? Who were these people? I started to thrash about but hands held me down. My eyes were still struggling to see anything and my brain seemed to be too fried to hear what anyone was saying.
I tried to calm myself down, I was alive and that was all that mattered at the moment. I just had to stop moving and try to concentrate. I forced my body to go limp and tried to control my laboured breathing. The panic was still there, lurking in the corners of my mind. A face appeared above me but the only thing I could make out were their eyes, they were warm pools of brown; the colour of mud, with worry etched in to every corner… my mother’s eyes.
“Mum…,” I managed to breathe out, my throat protesting against me every second.
Mumbled words reached my ears and then she was gone, replaced by a bright light. That’s when I started to fight, the hands that had held me down had left my body when I calmed down and I managed to sit up. It was a pretty hard feat considering everything was still a blur and my mind was fogged up to oblivion, the shadows around me started to sway and somebody pushed me back down.
My body was too weak to protest so I just gave in, turning my head to the left, in the direction my mother’s eyes had gone. My sight had started to clear and I could make out a big glass wall, with six figures standing behind it.
Bright blonde hair, deep brown and blues eyes, brown hair, fair complexions. I couldn’t place anything to anyone figure; it was like they were moving around so fast. But I knew who it was with all my heart. Nobody else would ever look like them, my family.
It was when I finally started to get a clear picture of them that I was pushed back into the darkness.

I woke up some time later, my mind in a clearer state than before. My back was hurting slightly but I knew where I was. I remembered what had happen. Well I think I remembered, it was pretty crazy and I was sure that my mind had to have been making some of it up. There was no way I could have been attacked by a dinosaur dressed like a clown, or driven a pumpkin. My family was here, that I could recall. I turned my head to the side, looking for them but I was met with a glass wall. I could see two people standing outside the door but that was it, they weren’t there.
