Chapter 8

Chapter 8:

            I occasionally got the evil from the witch and Miss Plastic. Kendra and I gave them right back. We don’t back down because of “intimidating” looks. Kendra seems to have some strong anger towards the witch and Miss Plastic. I think I should definitely find out what that’s all about. Anthony and Marcus sat near me in 2nd period again and I am sure they’ll do the same now at lunch. I walk into the cafeteria and search for them but trying not to look too obvious. Out of nowhere, someone grabs my book bag and scares the crap out of me. I turn around to a laughing Anthony and Marcus. “You jerks!” I laugh nervously and slap them both on the arm. “It was Anthony’s idea.” Marcus snitched. “Awww you snitch!” Anthony glared at Marcus playfully evil. “And I thought you liked me.” I say to Anthony. He pulls me in close and puts his left arm around my shoulders. “Oh he does.” Marcus says then covers his mouth. Anthony jumps back and sternly walks toward Marcus making him run away. “I am so gonna beat your a...” Anthony starts to say before the second worst thing of the day happens. Staci walks into the lunch room with Jocelyn following behind. Ain’t no way in hell those two have this lunch now! “Oh just freaking great.” Marcus says still standing a good distance from Anthony. Anthony grabs me gently and pulls me into the lunch line with Marcus following behind. “Just ignore them.” He says. We all get our lunch and go to sit at the table we’ve been sitting at since last week. There were the usual people there. There was the Jamaican dude with pretty eyes and dreads. He was actually really cute. From what I hear, his name is Isaac. The triplets Kristen, Kirsten, and Kristina somehow all have the same lunch. They have long blonde hair and thin frames. I don’t know how anyone can tell them apart by just looking at them. Then I heard the voice I hate. “You’re sitting at our table.” I heard Staci say. I have sat at this round wooden table for a week and I have never seen her name on it. I turn around and face her. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you owned this table.” I say sarcastically. I roll my eyes and turn back around to eat my food. “Trick, I said get up!” Staci yells loud enough that gets the cafeteria’s attention. No she didn’t just call me that. I stand up to speak.  “Trick? Lil girl my name is Skai Janette Jones and I will not sit here and let you call me out my name. If you have something to say to me, you better call me by my name or I’ma have my name imprinted in your fugly little face.” I say stepping to her. Blaze from earlier has this lunch so when he saw the action, he jumped in between us as much as he could. I had gotten really close to Staci so she knows I’m not scared. Out the corner of my eye I see Kendra walk into the scene and stands by my side. The whole cafeteria is waiting for something to go down and so am I. “You don’t intimidate me, Skai.” Staci says rolling her neck and wagging her anorexic finger. “Well I guess you’ve learned your lesson because you called me my name, trick.” I say to Staci. “Damn!” somebody yelled. Staci looked like she had something to say but of course she didn’t. She grunted really loud and walked away. A few people started clapping making her even madder. She didn’t even stay for lunch; she left the cafeteria with her follower behind her giving me the stink eye. We eat lunch quietly. People are still staring at me expecting me to talk about the situation but I won’t. I won’t let these people twist my words or any other BS.

            Staci and Jocelyn occasionally looked back at Anthony and I on the bus but we didn’t pay them much mind. It made them mad. When we were getting off the bus, Staci tripped me. “You b…!” I yell ready to slap this broad. A hand grabs my hand and pulls me with the most strength ever.

Sebastian’s POV

            Skai knows she has anger issues. She can’t be hitting anybody child like that. She could go to jail and she knows this. I pull her away from the girl and try to pull her away from the bus stop. She keeps reaching for the girl while the girl still talks junk. “What are you gonna do? You’re gonna try to cut me too?” she said. That fired Skai up. She pulled harder and harder to get away from me and she almost was but Anthony got off the bus and helped me pull Skai away. He talked smooth words to her to try to calm her down. “Calm down, Skai. You are SO much better than her            and prettier than her. She’s only jealous. There is NO need for you to fight someone who is not worth it.” He said softly and meaningfully. I can tell that he really likes my sister. Even though it’s only been a week and a half, I know she likes him too. He holds her face and looks into her eyes, ignoring the bus driver’s attempt to get him back on the bus. “You are too beautiful for this, girl. You really are.” He says before kissing her forehead. “I’ll call you later.” He calls out while walking back onto the bus. That girl looks extremely jealous and starts to tear up. She says something to her friends and walks quickly away towards her house. I hope this drama ends now that she understands that the boy wants Skai and not her.

Skai’s POV

            Anthony is so sweet to me and it’s so hard to believe. My brother walks me home in silence and I think about Anthony. What is it about me that attracts him? We walk into the house and Sebastian goes straight to his room and closes the door. He doesn’t talk as much anymore since he got on house arrest. It’s ridiculous. I walk up stairs and say hey to the twins then go to my room. I need some serious rest. All this BS with Staci and the sweetness from Anthony has my head spinning. I plop down on my bed and stare at my ceiling that is still bare. I’m not sure if we’ll ever paint this house anytime soon. I sit back up and take my shoes off. These Jordans ain’t no joke. I change into some shorts and lay back on my bed. Just as I plan to take a nap, my phone rings. Devin’s calling me. “Hello?” I answer the phone. “Hey, babe, what’s been going on?” he asks. I haven’t spoken to him in a while now and I don’t know why. “Just some BS drama that I don’t have time for. What about you? You miss my kisses?” I ask. “You know this, girl.” He answers. That’s when it hit me.

Memory:

Sindy, why are you doing this?” he asked. “Making you remember who I was.” She said sounding seductively. I heard a noise that sounded like kissing. “Mmm… you miss my kisses don’t you, Devie?” she said before I hear more kissing noises. “You know this, girl.” My heart dropped and I died inside. “Devin.” I cried.

            Now I remember why I got mad! It was all his fault. “Wait a minute, you bastard! You butt dialed me 3 days ago when you were Sindy you no good lying ass dog!” I yell. “What…what are you talking about?” he asks like he doesn’t know. “Don’t play stupid with me, Devin! I heard you and her kissing and doing other BS! I heard about what y’all did at that Football kickback! Dude, I’m not stupid! “I yell. “Look bae for real…” he starts before I cut him off. “Don’t call me bae. I’m not your bae, Sindy is.! Go back to your wack ass ex and leave me alone. We are so done!” I yell. “Baby let me explain.” He says pissing me off even more. “That’s the last thing I need you to do. The first is to never call my phone no more and leave me tf alone for good!” I yell and hang up the phone. He was about to say more BS but I’m not tryna hear it. I’ve been gone for like a month and he already started cheating on me. I swear I didn’t think it was possible that we’d be over but we are. I am never getting back with that dog! Ugh he irks me! I hold my head in my two hands and try to calm down. Woosah, Skai, woosah. Remember what Anthony said to you earlier. With the thought of Anthony crossing my mind, I smile and relax a little. I lie my head back down on my bed and drift into a peaceful nap.

Dream:

            “Skai, I have loved you from the day I met you. I swear it was love at first sight.” Anthony says to me while holding my hands with the both of his. He smiled his beautiful smiled and leaned into to kiss me. The kiss was magical and it moved my heart. “I love you Anthony.” I said. Just as he was about to say it back, Staci walks in with Devin. She pulls him in and kisses him hard on the mouth. “What the hell, Staci?” I yell. “This is my new girl, Skai. Are you jealous?” Devin asks. “No!” I yell not sure about my answer. Anthony looks at me angrily knowing that I was a little jealous. Devin and Staci started kissing again then Ms. Hatcher walks in smiling evilly. “Skai, take your F.” she says throwing my essay on art at me. She laughs evilly and Staci joined in. Jocelyn somehow showed up and joined in. Devin joined in on the evil laughing. Kendra walks in with a rifle and aims it Staci. “I got my rifle back b…!” she says.

Before anything else happened, I shot up in my bed. “What the hell?”
