Chapter nine
*******
As we sat down at a table at the cafe, I couldn’t but help wonder if the guy standing in line was really the son of Victor Acosta, the one that had made half of my dad’s life a living hell. I pushed the thoughts away when Ivan came back with our coffees.
We talked about, almost everything. He told me about how things went down when his parents told him about this, situation. He also had a little breakdown so I was glad I wasn't the only one.
We talked and his full attention was on me. It felt nice and the more I tried to shake it off the more it stuck but I was still not over Luke and I mentioned that to Ivan.
“It's quite alright, I'm not really over a crush of mine either.” he said but his eyebrows sort of scrunched together in confusion, but understanding the predicament I was in. I smiled and he smiled back.
“Just so we are clear, we might have had a nice time here right now but I'm still not sure about you.” I said leaning back in my seat. He gave a half smile and lowered his head.
“I'm not very fond of you as well.” he answered quietly. I nodded back at him. Ivan was about to say something when he looked over my shoulder and scowled.
In confusion, I turned around and was a bit surprised to see Luke standing by the entrance, giving Ivan the same look. I frowned and looked back to Ivan, I was going to ask him what was wrong but Luke sort of beat me to it.
“Amara, why are you here with him?” he asked not wavering his eye contact with Ivan.
“Um, he's a friend of my parents and he came down here looking for me on his way to Spain, to speak.” I tried, sounding as calm and nonchalant as I could. He finally looked to me and frowned.
“A friend?!,” he looked between Ivan and me, “I don't believe it, now tell me why you're truly with him?” I was about to answer but Ivan spoke up.
“It's really none of your business amigo.” Ivan said smirking. Luke clenched his hands.
“Back at it again I see viejo amigo.” Luke shot back. I was totally confused. What is going on, do they know each other?
“Okay macho men enough with the manly act, Luke you have to leave.” I said. Luke turned to me with this raging look in his eyes. I stood up as they both looked at me.
“Okay fine, you two have a good time, I'll leave.” I said gathering my things.
“Amara, please sta-” Ivan started and stood up, “no, you two apparently have unfinished business and I don't want to be stuck in the middle, well I think I already am but that's not the point, I'm not going to stay here and watch you two act like children, so adios.” I stormed out of the cafe, leaving them both standing there like idiots.
