EDIT: Hey guys! I just finished editing this chapter when I realized there had been a huge name swap at the end. So I fixed it. For readers that have read this chapter before, I changed Jack's name to James since I forgot for a second the flashback in the chapter PAST. Sorry!
Lucas picked me up this morning. And although I would never admit it, I kind of like it.
His bike is nowhere near as nice as mine. But it provides me a sense of freedom nonetheless. It is the only time when I could ride a bike without having to constantly check if anyone sees and recognizes me.
Lucas didn't seem to want to let me go as we walked down the hallway. I walked with my head down as Claire and her cult-followers glared at me.
That girl has a problem.
"Babe, what are you doing with this bitch?" Claire squeaked out. A sneer grew on her lips and disgust fills her eyes as she looks at me.
"I don't know. This bitch just came up to me and started insulting Jess," Lucas says calmly. Claire gasps before giggling and swatting Lucas's shoulder playfully.
"Oh babe, you're so funny!" she giggled. I scoffed and rolled my eyes while Lucas just stared at her coldly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch the joke. Mind repeating it?" Lucas says. He cocks an eyebrow, looking unamused.
"The joke is that you don't know a slut when you see one," Claire says. Lucas's eyes darkened but I placed a hand on his chest and pushed him back before he did something he would regret. Like, punch a girl.
"Leave us alone, Claire," I say. I don't dare swear at school.
"Did this bitch just talk to me?" Claire says, a scowl ruining whatever is left of her pretty face after her ugly personality ruined it.
I finally had enough. Screw this school and a worthless reputation. This bitch is disrespecting me and I am not going to take it lying down.
"You listen up, fucking bitch," I growl. "If you don't get out of my damn face in 3 seconds, I'll make sure that your pretty face is on the floor. Or what's left of that damn face."
"Miss-Goodie-Two-Shoes is finally revealing her true colors?" Claire said, the sneer further twisting her face.
"No, bitch," I reply. "You all are just too stupid to realize them."
:
I should run. Or at least, my rational brain told me to. But I couldn't care less.
Claire and her followers walked out with different expressions. Her followers have horrified or insulted expressions. But Claire's expression worries me.
She has a satisfied and smug grin on her face. And I know that this is far from over.
I started pacing and muttering. My palms pressed to my forehead as I do what I do best: overthink.
"Oh no, I swore- "
"Jess, it'll be fine. It's okay. You did amazing back there." Lucas is trying to calm me down, but his voice is drowned out by all the buzzing thoughts swirling in my head.
"I swore! I swore in front of her-"
"Calm down, Jesse," Lucas says. He puts a hand on my shoulder that keeps me from pacing.
"I snapped at her, a-and she's gonna' tell everyone..."
I felt lost. I felt like drowning in my worrisome and stressed out thoughts. To the chiding voices telling me how stupid I am. I am not supposed to reveal myself.
