"I hate it when we fight."

Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. Who the hell likes to fight anyway? A sadist, that's who.

"Do you trust me now?"

Hmm, let me think about it. I was forced to climb a tree, get stuck on it, and then take a leap of faith that knocked me out? Fine, Lucas did catch me. I gotta give him credit for that. But although I may trust you, I goddamn hate you. At least for now.

"Jesse? Talk to me."

Nope. I don't care what you say. I am not opening my mou-

"I'm eating your chips," Lucas says slyly.

My eyes widen and I rush over to him. He smiles in relief before realizing the murderous glare in my eyes as I stare at the hand that was about to steal my chips. I pounce from my side of the bed to his

"DON'T YOU DARE!"

He jolts back and raises both hands in surrender. I grab the bag of chips from my desk and start munching on them with my back turned to him.

"Hey, can I have some of those?" Lucas asks while poking my back. I tilt my chin up defiantly and kept on going as if I didn't hear him.

"This may be cheesy," he says. "But I think you're grate."

I turn to him while pursing my lips so I don't burst out laughing. He sees it and cracks a breathtaking smile.

"Haha, very funny," I say sarcastically. He raises an amused eyebrow.

"Yeah. I think it's very punny," he says with a wink. I slap my hand to my mouth so a giggle doesn't force it's way out.

"Shut up. I'm still mad at you," I say, my voice a bit muffled.

"Is your name wifi? 'Cuz I feel a connection," Lucas says. I almost burst out laughing. But I held it in and instead, a smile escaped.

"Shut. Up."

"Oops. My bad. You must be Google. I'm finding everything I'm searching for," he continues. I try to glare at him but my smile ruined everything.

"Nope. This is not working," I say, although both of us know that it is. Lucas chuckles at my denial.

"Maybe your name is Ariel? Because I think mermaid for each other," Lucas says with an exaggerated wink. I finally gave up and fell on my back, laughing my ass off.

I must have sounded like a dying seal. I kept on laughing and laughing, eventhough it wasn't even that funny. But the memoy of laughing so freely has been such a long time ago that I want it to last as long as it could.

"Thank you," I say, my voice breathless after laughing. A wide smile broke out on Lucas's face as he stared at me, different emotions swirling in his eyes.

"For what?"

"For making me trust you again. And for making me laugh," I answer. The glimmer in his eyes says it all as Lucas pulls me close to him.

I grin against his shirt as he kisses my forehead. Then my hair and down to my neck. I shiver and gasp when I feel his lips against my skin.

"I'll do anything to make you happy," Lucas swore. I chuckled sadly.

"Don't give me false hope, Lucas," I say softly. He smiles against my neck before lifting his head to kiss my lips.

"I promise you, Jesse. Even if you don't trust or believe me, I still trust you."

"Really?" I ask. Please don't be a promise you can't keep. Please don't be false hope.

"I'm never letting you go."
